7-Eleven Introduces Wine Display

7-Eleven wants to give its customers a quick and convenient place to pick up a bottle of wine. It is partnering with the country’s top wineries and distributors, to offer a wide selection of premium wines in the $5-$10 range. A new informational wine rack display, designed especially for 7-Eleven, will hold up to 30 different varieties of wine, along with educational shelf tags that include country of origin, description of wine and suggested food parings. The wine display will also include accessories like corkscrews and gift bags. "We had the wine racks developed to hold a variety of wine in a limited space and as much information as possible," said Dennis Phelps, 7-Eleven Category Manager for beer and wine.


Miller Lite Runs Super Bowl Promotion Miller Brewing’s Miller Lite has conducted a national football-themed promotion supported by point-of-sale materials that showcase Miller Lite as the official beer sponsor of Super Bowl XXXIII. Off-premise, consumers can enter a portable bar giveaway promotion via tear-off entry forms appearing on displays. On-premise, consumers can enter via scratch-off neck labels appearing on 12-ounce long neck bottles of Miller Lite. Off-premise point-of-sale materials include aisle spanners, window adhesive displays, hanging signs, display cards, floor mats and danglers. The displays feature a stylized clock illustration and are headlined, “Countdown To Super Bowl XXXIII. On-premise elements include table tents, coasters, pennants and wall decorations.

Crillon Ltd. Launched Michel Roux, the spirits marketer who turned Aboslut Vodka into a mega-hit, has launched a new company to import and market premium alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages called Crillon Ltd. Roux will assume the position of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. He will be joined by former Carillon colleague Jerry Ciraulo, who will serve as President and Chief Operating Officer. For Classic Draught Anheuser-Busch has launched a campaign to support Budweiser Classic Draught, including new advertising initiatives, Budweiser Classic Draught p.o.s. materials, and special events. New Budweiser Classic Draught point-of-sale materials include “Budweiser Classic Draught On Tap” neons, illuminated pub lights and neon inserts, posters, table tents, banners and tap markers, all featuring a redesigned Budweiser Classic Draught logo.

Korbel Champagne Cellars has trademarked “The Official Champagne of the Millennium” for use in advertising and promotion and is the official worldwide sponsor of the Times Square 2000 celebration in New York City. Korbel is planning Millennium promotions that allow retailers to promote Korbel all year long. This includes a permanent display that reinforces Korbel’s Millennium equities while allowing flexibility for seasonal promotions. The permanent display is composed of three pieces. The first panel, which contains a countdown clock, is supported by a pole which is high enough to stack four cases below. The back of this panel includes the Korbel logo, fireworks graphics and the back of the oval is the Times Square logo. The far right panel is the same size with the Times Square oval on the front and the Korbel Millennium logo on the back of the oval. It also contains the Korbel logo and fireworks graphics on the back. This panel includes strips to hold inserts to feature whatever the current promotion is going on at the time. The middle panel is a replica of the world’s largest chanpagne bottle, measuring 4 feet 6 inches tall.


HA-LO Acquires Siebel Marketing

HA-LO Industries, Inc., a Niles, Il-based distributor of promotional products, has acquired Siebel Marketing Group, a New York City-based promotion marketing agency based in New York City.

Lou Weisbach, HA-LO President and CEO, said, “The acquisition is a continuation of our strategy of acquiring only the highest quality companies in the marketing communications arena. Siebel will become a part of UPSHOT and will be renamed UPSHOT, NY. The Coca-Cola Wall of Speed offers NASCAR fans a simulated race track experience. The 100’ long, interactive virtual reality experience features eight Winston Cup racing cars. Each car is equipped with a simulator that allows participants to race each other. Spevco, Inc., Pfafftown, NC, created The Wall of Speed in conjunction with Sponsorship Services Group, Winston-Salem, NC. The simulator experience travels in two 45-foot trailers.

New St. Pauli Girl Poster Debuts

Each year for more than a decade, St. Pauli Girl beer has chosen a model to represent the beer brand and appear on the St. Pauli Girl Poster. For 1999, Jaime Bergman has been selected to adorn the St. Pauli Girl poster and represent the brand at promotional appearances.

The St. Pauli Girl poster is distributed at St. Pauli Girl retailers. Some 500,000 prints will be available free to consumers via in-store display bins.

Schweppes Launches Broadway Promotion

Schweppes and Live Broadway, trademark of the League of American Theatres and Producers, have teamed up for a national consumer sweepstakes promotion.

Prizes include weekend Broadway getaways, binoculars and compact discs with musical hits from Broadway productions.

The instant-win promotion is featured on Schweppes Ginger Ale, Tonic Water, and Club Soda in specially developed, Broadway-themed bottles and point-of-sale materials in retail outlets across the nation.

Winning messages for the promotion will be delivered under-the-cap and in-pack.


Anheuser-Busch Runs Bud Bowl '99

Bud Bowl ’99, the longest-running beer promotion, is appearing on the Internet on "Super Sunday", January 31, with the annual rivalry between Budweiser and Bud Light on www.BudBowl.com.

7 UP recently teamed up with Hillshire Farms to promote sales tied to this year’s Super Bowl.

Pepsi Display Offers Pepsi One Cans

Pepsi-Cola is using this floor bin to help introduce its new Pepsi One diet cola.

The display helps Pepsi get prime off-shelf positioning for the new soft drink.

The display, which merchandises single cans is headlined, "Try One."

This display was created for Pepsi-Cola by Arrow Art, Inc., a Bronx, NY-based display firm.


Budweiser Signs World Cup Sponsorship

Budweiser has renewed its soccer sponsorship with the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) and will serve as the official beer sponsor of the FIFA World Cup in 2002 and 2006. The new agreement is the biggest sponsorship package in Budweiser’s history.

"Budweiser is becoming a truly international brand, and our sponsorship of the FIFA World Cup enables us to promote the brand’s position as the world’s best-selling beer," said August Busch IV, VP, Marketing, Anheuser-Busch, Inc.
