"Surge" Promotion Gives Away Authentic Checker Cabs

Surge, the 'fully loaded citrus soda" is running a "Fully Loaded Summer" promotion which includes a multiple-market sweepstakes and a 25-city cab tour. The Grand Prize will give the sweepstakes winner a chance to head out in a Surge-branded checker cab for a 25-city tour, Additional cabs will be awarded through local promotions in 25 cities across the U.S.

Frank Bifulco, V.P., Marketing, Coca-Cola USA, said: "Fully Loaded Summer taps into Surge’s brand positioning as the soft drink for people who have a blast experiencing life to the fullest "We felt Checker Cabs were a great way to represent the sociable quality of Surge".

To enter the sweepstake consumers mail in entry forms found on Fully Loaded Summer point-of-sale displays at participating retailers.

The Checker Cabs were chosen with the growing realization that they are in danger of becoming extinct and Surge has gone to great lengths to restore the 26 Checker Cabs for the promotion.


New ‘Get Bud’ Summer Promos Launched

Budweiser has launched a "Get Bud Get Music" promotion. Get Bud Get Music offers consumers the chance to win CD’s and cassette tapes in a collect to get incentive, with an additional opportunity to win Sony stereo equipment. "Mike LaBroad, Director of Marketing, Budweiser, said: "With over 70% of buying decisions made in-store, Get Bud Get Music provides incentive for our consumers to purchase Budweiser products all summer long ".

The promotion will get more than $10 million in advertising support. Displays designed to complement its sister promotion, "Get Bud Get Cookin" will feature on-premise table tents, counter cards, stringer pennants, CD cut-outs and posters. Off-premise includes case cards, C-Poles, cooler stickers, vault decals, stand-ups and imprintable banners of popular music artists.


Carillon Introduces Stolichnaya Gold

Carillon Importers Ltd. is introducing Stolichnaya Gold, an ultra-premium vodka.

Michel Roux, President and CEO of Carillon said: "Stoli Gold is the new jewel in the Stolichnaya crown. It has a smooth, rich quality unlike any other vodka we have ever experienced".

80-Proof Stolichnaya Gold will be available in 750 ml and 1 liter sizes.


Lizard Brands Introduces SoBe Healthy Refreshers

Lizard Brands, Norwalk, CT, is introducing SoBe Healthy Refreshers. Lizard has expanded its 3G tea line to include 3G Green Tea plus Echinacea, which boosts the immune system; 3G Oolong Tea plus Bee Pollen, nature’s super energy food and 3G Red Tea plus Selenium, an antioxidant and cancer fighter.

Lizard is also introducing SoBe 3C Elixirs, healthful juice blends enhanced with: Calcium, Chromium Picolinate and Carnitine. Also new is Sobe Energy, with Guarana for energy.


Miller Launches Blind Date Promo

Miller Genuine Draft is offering the chance to see some of the hottest rock bands perform in small clubs, a fraction of the stadium-sized venues these bands typically sell out, as part of its MGD Blind Date summer promotion.

The performing artists and the specific venues will remain mysteries until the evenings of each concert. No tickets will be sold to any of the concerts, and less than 1,000 winners from radio, print and bar promotions will get the chance to attend the exclusive events. The promotion will be supported with extensive media advertising and p.o.p. materials.


Daily Wellness Elixer Launched

The Daily Wellness Co., Los Altos, CA, has introduced Elix, providing 100% of the daily value of essential vitamins. The Elix beverage line includes: Elix Multi-Vitamin (Antioxidant); Elix Chamomile (Relaxation); and Elix Echinacea (Strength).


Domecq Names C. Palmer, V.P. Mktg.

Domecq Importers Inc., Old Greenwich, CT, has named Cheryl Palmer as Vice President of Marketing. Ms. Palmer served most recently as Director of Best Practices at Cadbury Beverages, where she also previously served as Director of Marketing, Adult Beverages. She will be responsible for marketing for all Domecq spirits brands including Sauza tequila, Beefeater gin, and Courvoisier cognac.


Guinness Names R. Fils-Aime, V.P., Mktg

Guinness Import Company, Stamford, CT, has named Reggie Fils-Aime as Vice President of Marketing, GIC. Mr. Fils-Aime was previously Senior Vice President, Marketing and New Concept Development for Panda Management Company
