R.sole Store Showcases Art And Entertainment

R.sole, a retail store that sells high-end special edition sneakers and custom-made shoes, recently opened in St. Louis, MO, combining a gallery-inspired configuration with an urban nightclub aesthetic.

The dark rectangular 1,972 sq. ft. retail space resembles a hip art gallery as each collectible sneaker is displayed like a museum piece. Niche wall display units are backlit by color-changing LED lights that showcase a series of rotating merchandise display panels. Recessed LED floor tiles highlight special merchandise.

The front windows were covered in translucent vinyl with geometric cutouts, allowing passer-bys only a glimpse of the interior. “We decided to use a non-sell, selling strategy because it would appeal to serious collectors and also act as a lure for other customers,” said Vlad Zadneprianski, of Tobin+Parnes Design Enterprises, designer of the store.

Dark gray finishes are used throughout, imparting the attitude of a hip, exclusive nightclub.

There are plans for additional R.sole store openings in Memphis, TN and other Midwest markets.

Gore-Tex Presents ‘Know What's Inside’ Mobile Tour

Gore-Tex and Windstopper products have launched the “Know What’s Inside” Tour, a cross-country adventure designed to educate outdoor enthusiasts about Gore-Tex and Windstopper garments.

The mobile test chamber features a Gore Extreme Weather Chamber where visitors are invited to step inside and personally test the Gore-Tex Guaranteed To Keep You Dry promise.

The weather chamber allows participants to dial up their own weather and choose from a wide range of weather conditions while wearing Gore-Tex outerwear. “All the interactive demonstrations are part of a ‘please touch’ environment that lends to making learning fun, while bringing the product benefits to life,” said Steve Shuster, Global Brand Manager at Gore.

Although constructed of solid wood, these displays are surprisingly light weight and easy to position and mount. The slide-in frames are available in two sizes - 22" x 28" and 24" x 36". The slide-in, double-sided floorstand holds 22" x 56" graphics. To learn more about this display, contact Sue Terova at Global Shop, Booth 4213; or call 248-488-5783.

Timberland Tabletop/Slatwall Display

This Timberland Display was developed to showcase a special 8” boot and hat designed in partnership with New Era. The fixture’s “museum cube” appearance conveys a premium message. The dramatic black graphic is consistent with Timberland’s brand advertising, and is used consistently for Timberland’s POS materials. The fixture is designed to be used for tabletop and slatwall applications. The display is designed with a minimalist look to focus attention on the featured product. The plexi edges are flame polished, giving the cube the look of glass, but the acrylic is less costly and more durable. This display was created by WL Concepts & Production, Inc., 599 Jerusalem Avenue, Uniondale, N.Y. 11553.

Carters Pallet Display

Carters is using this three sided, skirted pallet display shocasing six hanging baby outfits per side. The objective of the display program was to rapidoy drop ship complete sales kiosks into Sam’s Club stores for immediate sale of inventory. The success of the program has led to the scheduling of a series of seasonal displays for Carters. This display was created for Carters by Meridian Display, 162 York Avenue East, St. Paul, MN 55117.

Filene’s Basement Custom Fixtures

Filene’s Basement needed custom fixtures for two new locations, one opening in Hunts Valley, MD and the other in Boston. The Boston location required the fixture to be no higher than a glass wall that was 44" high. The fixture was to be used in front of the escalator so it was to have high visibility. It also had to be flexible with different types of merchandise to be presented so a hangbar attachment with peg hooks was used to accommodate the changes in merchandise and seasons. The Hunt Valley, MD location also required the same attributes in its fixtures as they were to be located right on the second floor near the cash wrap, escalator and elevator. The Filene’s Basement custom fixtures were designed, manufactured and installed by Flair Display, Inc., 3920 Merritt Avenue, Bronx, New York 10466.
