High-Tech Display Features Duracell Ultra

Duracell has introduced Duracell Ultra, a line of high-tech alkaline batteries specifically designed for high-tech devices, including cellular telephones, digital and flash cameras, MiniDisc players and camcorders. By segmenting the battery category, Duracell maintains the longer lasting performance of Duracell alkaline batteries for general purpose applications while addressing the intense power requirements of high-tech devices with Duracell Ultra.

Displays for Duracell Ultra feature a high tech design which complements the bold new battery packaging. Steve McKelvey, Manager, Communications, said, "The futuristic looking display immediatley tells customers that something is new here."

Duracell Ultra displays include such eye-catching features as LED lights, 3-D images and a unique easy-load merchandising system.

The launch will be supported by more than $60 million in advertising and promotion.


Earthgrains P.O.S. Brings Excitement To Bread Aisle

The Earthgrains Co., St. Louis, MO, has launched the mountain-bike oriented IronKids Bread Mountains of Fun Instant Win Sweepstakes. "Our goal is to create excitement in the bakery aisle that translates to an enhanced shopping experience," said Gary Jensen, Earthgrains’ Sr. V.P. Marketing.

There will be more than 2,000 instant winners, ranging from bicycle helmets to Diamondback mountain bikes to the grand prize one-week trip for four to Beaver Creek, CO.

A mountain bike promotion is a natural for IronKids Bread, which has the taste of white bread with the fiber and many nutrients of wheat bread. "This promotion is a great match for IronKids," said Chris Ruzicka, Earthgrain’s Promotion Director. "It’s about health and fitness, and has a tie-in with a strong brand in Diamondback."


Stockpot Offers Fresh Soup & Salad Center

Stockpot, Redmond, WA, is helping retailers corner the meal solutions market in the produce department with this Fresh Soup and Salad Center, combining Stockpot packaged fresh refrigerated soups with packaged salads.

Stockpot’s refrigerated soups offer a "made-from-scratch" flavor in minutes, combining all natural ingredients. Stockpot distributes more than 50 flavors of soup in addition to sauces, gravies, entrees, chilis, side dishes and marinades, providing complete meal solutions.


Chevron Launches Foodini’s Fresh Meal Market

Chevron has launched Foodini’s Fresh Meal Market, its new convenience retail offering featuring a variety of high quality, freshly prepared, pre-packaged and made-to-order meals-to-go for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Several pilot stores are scheduled to open this year in Northern California and the Phoenix area.

"Chevron’s mission is to become a leading convenience retailer, not just a purveyor of gasoline," said Dale Walsh, Manager of Retail Development for Chevron Products Co. "We can accomplish this by making our customers’ lives easier. Foodini’s was created in response to the ever-growing need for quality meals that fit into busy lifestyles."


Sara Lee Introduces Looney Tunes Jr. Fresh Baked Goods

Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Sara Lee have teamed up to introduce Sara Lee Looney Tunes Jr. Bagels, English Muffins, Mini Donuts and Cookies, debuting in the supermarket bread aisle.

"“Sara Lee is strengthening its all family appeal through the licensing of Warner Bros.’ Looney Tunes characters. The joining of these two powerful brands will bring fun, excitement and innovation to the fresh baked goods aisle," said Brian Dean, V.P., Marketing, for Sara Lee Fresh.


Advantage/10 Natural Foods Line Introduced

Developed by Golden Valley Foods, Minneapolis, MN, Advantage/10 is the first brand of low fat, vegetarian, natural foods that offers a complete line of products across multiple food categories. The line includes: frozen entrees, oven-roasted pizzas, veggie burgers, nutrition bars and fruit smoothies. All of the products have 10% or less calories from fat, less than three grams of fat per serving, and no cholesterol. Advantage/10’s in-store merchandising program includes: cooler door stickers, shelf talkers, counter cards, posters, and in-pack coupons.


Hershey Partners With Cendant Software For Promo

This summer, grocery store, drug store, and mass merchant shoppers purchasing packages of Hershey’s candy will receive a free, trial version CD-ROM containing interactive previews of 13 best-selling Cendant Software programs. In addition, consumers will receive $65 worth of coupons good toward the purchase of full versions of any of these 13 titles.

Consumers will be able to take home the CD either inside the candy package or from a nearby retail display; or send a coupon to receive the CD by mail. The combination of these great titles and Hershey’s chocolate offers families an unprecedented value."


Perdue Kids Meal Supported By P.O.S.

Perdue Farms is offering retailers a profitable way to compete against fast food chains for the kids market. Planet Perdue Kid’s Meals, a complete meal in a box, teams Perdue chicken breast nuggets with Mott’s Fruit Punch and Nabisco Teddy Graham Snacks. Space trivia can be found on the Planet Perdue kit’s side panel, along with a form to join a special club. Each kit also contains a toy surprise.

P.o.s. materials reflect the popular "space" theme.


Jell-o Nascar Display

Jell-o Nascar Display. This 15-case display attracts racing fans for Jell-O Brand Gelatin. The display were stocked with four weeks of products and sold out in one. A re-order of 10,000 displays was required to supplement a 20,000 unit order. The display featured unmistakable checkered-flag and NASCAR graphics and held 480 packages of Jell-O and 120 NASCAR molds. Consumers received a free mold with a four-box purchase. Durkee Profit Tower

Durkee Profit Tower. The marketing objective was to expand off line presence by securing permanent placement in compatible departments within the store. Cross merchandising opportunities, primarily in meat and produce departments were the placement areas for the tower. The tower also enhances seasonal promotion opportunities. Planet Lunch Floorstand

Planet Lunch Floorstand. This display was designed as part of a multi-dimensional lunch snack program matching product mix and displays to individual stores. The objective was to attract the attention and spending of 30 million young Americans. The display can stand alone or can be massed in a group. 15,000 units were placed in store with 7,000 to follow. M & M Mars Inc. Inflatable Pumpkin Dump Bin

M & M Mars Inc. featured this year-catching inflatable pumpkin dump bin which were filled with bags of candy. The display grabbed the consumer’s attention and brought fun to the point of sale. The inflatable is I-Beam constructed so that the center is hollow. The products are printed in 4-color on a clear PVC collar that wraps around the opening of the pumpkin. The display is 30” x 21”. The M & M Mars Inflatable Pumpkin was created by Sterling Promotion Corp., 2 Gannett Drive, White Plains, NY 10604.


Colavita USA Rack Offers Italian Meal Center

Colavita offered retailers an “Italian Meal Center” in a movable, 4 sq. ft. modular display rack. The rack displays over 200 product units for easy customer selection. This modular display rack is manufactured of high impact Polystyrene and the logo is printed on all 4 shelf facings for maximum brand identification. Wire shelves on the side allow for extra product placement. There are over 1,750 units in stores. Swanson Frozen Foods Floor Graphics

Swanson Foods is using this floor graphic display in front of frozen food cases in supermarkets to create awareness of its 65 varieties of frozen products. Floor graphics help to generate product awareness and increase retail sales at the very moment the consumer walks to the freezer case to make a selection. Floor graphics can be produced in many sizes and shapes and are easy to place and easy to remove. Jell-O Product Merchandising Chute

This colorful merchandising module attaches to the edge of a gondola shelf to provide additional space to merchandise, stock and present the brand. The unit was designed for placement not only in the dessert aisle, but throughout the supermarket. The aisle intruder profile it creates reinforces the visibility of the brand and provides additional merchandising and product section. Two side panels feature eye-catching graphics printed with the widely recognized Jell-O logo and mouth watering Jell-O dessert photography. Baker’s One-Stop Shop Center

Baker had distributed this display to supermarkets on a national basis and it serves as a One-Stop Shop Center for its complete line of baking ingredients. The displays was designed to be merchandised from three sides to gain placement at an end aisle. Baker’s logo across the top of the Center reinforces the Baker’s brand and helps to attract the consumer to this full line of baking products. Frito-Lay Wow! Introduced With Trial Floorstand

Frito-Lay introduced its new no/low-fat Chips, WoW! containing the new Olean cooking oil and required an exciting display to kick off the new line of chips. This floorstand merchandises trial size varieties of chips at an introductory price. The display is divided into 3 cells which gravity feed into a dump area made visible and easily accessible by extended trays. The display is designed to provided easy access for refilling. It offers eye-catching graphics illustrating the delectability of the product. A small acrylic pocket holds pamphlets that outline the “WoW!” advantages and lists all Olean Snacks. Pepperidge Farm Gold Fish Inflatable Replica

Pepperidge Farm wanted to promoted its Gold Fish Crackers in the supermarket for a special Holiday Promotion. A miniature inflatable replica was manufactured of the famous Pepperidge Farm Gold Fish wearing a custom cap and eye mask. The item was sold to supermarkets as an in-pack, shrink-wrapped to the bucket of individually wrapped packets of crackers, an attractive packaging concept. Ensure Meal Replacement In Corrugated Display

This corrugated floor display was used to help launch Ensure’s new flavors. The unique selling feature of this display is that it allowed retailers to merchandise both open stock for new trial of the product and full closed cases all in one location. The display had to be designed to sustain the weight of the full cases (over 100 lbs). Retailers were receptive to the innovative way to merchandise the product and strong graphics attracted the consumer to the nutritional drink supplement. Promotion Sampling Display Tables

Walls + Forms, Inc.’s Promotional Products division has introduced a low cost, easy to transport promotional/sampling display table. Sampling has proven to be very popular for both food and beverage products. This display table is made Polyethylene and is built to stand up to the harshest retail conditions.
