Floor Display Promotes Debut of Gladware

Gladware containers from First Brands Corporation, maker of Glad Wrap and Bags, is making its national debut, merchandised in this bright yellow floor display. New Gladware offers consumers a more affordable choice in food containers at around 50 cents each. The clear containers are microwave-, freezer- and top-shelf dishwasher-safe.

Julia Hobbie-Low, Marketing Manager, First Brands said, “Since many plastic food containers tend to be expensive, consumers are very protective of them and are less likely to send food away from home; Gladware offers a solution. We developed an innovative, affordable solution in the food protection category.

Point-of-sale displays and advertising humorously plays on many consumers’ apprehension about sending their expensive food containers out of the home, offering the ingenious solution of Gladware as "the containers you’ll love to use...but can afford to lose."


New Reynolds Hot Bags Grocery Store Display

Reynolds Wrap Aluminum Foil is using this corrugated floor display to support the launch of Reynolds Hot Bags, extra heavy duty foil bags for making complete meals on the grill or in the oven.

With Reynolds Hot Bags, food goes right in a foil bag pre-sealed on three sides to make a large durable pouch. When cooking indoors, Reynolds Hot Bags lock in the natural juices so meats, poultry, fish and vegetables stay tender and flavorful. For outdoor chefs, Reynolds Hot Bags will keep these foods from sticking to the grill or falling through the grill rack. Each Hot Bags carton contains an instruction booklet that includes cooking guides and recipes.

These floor displays will be placed near the aluminum foil products.


Keilen, Ltd. Introduces Taco Bell 'One-Stop-Shop'

Keilen, Ltd., Billerica, MA, distributor of ethnic cookware, is "helping meals become fiestas!" with the Taco Bell Kitchen Originals One-Stop-Shop. Keilen has teamed up with Taco Bell to introduce the Taco Bell Kitchen Originals cookware and accessories line that will help drive the growing popularity of preparing and consuming Mexican food at home.

"Kitchen Originals will provide retailers with an extremely strong branded product that already has instant customer recognition", said Herb Garfinkel, Keilen, Ltd. Executive Vice President.

Keilen is offering an array of attractive merchandising displays that meet retailers’ needs for space management. There will also be cross-merchandising opportunities that will come from combining Taco Bell Kitchen Originals with other Taco Bell food products currently sold in supermarkets.


"Fruitango" Launches With New Display

Abbott Laboratories Canada is launching its new Ensure product, “Fruitango” in a new fun display which replicates a milkshake glass, to highlight the creamy tasting flavor of the product. The display design had to conform to the very limited footprint of 18" x 18" permitted in Canadian retail outlets.

The unit holds 144 new Tetra Pak packages that will facilitate the portability of the product for consumers on the move.

Each display side is color coded to reinforce the distinct product flavors.

The display is constructed entirely from corrugated and is shipped to the stores with minimal set up required.

The Ensure Fruitango Display was designed and manufactured by Point 1 Displays Inc., of Montreal, Canada.


DiGiorno Runs ‘Rise And Roll’ Promotion

DiGiorno Foods Co. has launched the "Rise and Roll With DiGiorno" promotion, pairing DiGiorno Rising Crust pizza and the PGA Tour to share the fun of golf and the great taste of DiGiorno pizza with people around the country.

Rise and Roll with DiGiorno features a Flying Pizza hot air balloon; the DiGiorno Travelin’ Pizzeria; a brightly decorated, oven equipped pizzeria-on-wheels that can serve 1,000 pizza samples an hour; and the PGA Tour Rolling Clubhouse, a unique, interactive golfing experience. In each city this pizza-and-PGA-Tour-caravan will visit balloon festivals, outdoor concerts, fairs and sporting events.

The PGA Tour Rolling Clubhouse, sponsored by DiGiorno, will visit more than 40 cities this year, stopping at select retail locations with the DiGiorno Travelin’ Pizzeria.


Wisk HE Debuts

Lever has introduced Wisk HE, a new laundry detergent specially formulated for high efficiency, front-loading washers.

Lever is supporting Wisk HE with samples and coupons in new front-loaders, direct mailings to owners of front-loaders and a national FSI.


Campbell Launches New Soups

Campbell Soup has launched a Ready-To-Serve version of its tomato soup and Soup To Go, a microwavable single-serving bowl for the workplace and school lunches. In addition, Campbell announced a partnership with Nickelodeon, linking Campbell’s to Nickelodeon’s "Blue’s Clues" and "Rugrats". "These new products will broaden our consumer base by appealing to consumers whose busy lifestyles demand increased convenience without sacrificing quality," said Mark Leckie, President, Campbell’s U.S. Grocery Division. "They build on the success of our core business and take advantage of new packaging formats such as plastic and glass that complement our great strength in canned soups. We are also significantly increasing our kids marketing efforts".

Mott’s To Market Fresh Apples

Mott’s USA has signed a licensed agreement with C.H. Robinson Worldwide, to market fresh apples under the Mott’s brand name.

"This is a logical move for us because consumers already associate Mott’s with the highest quality apple products", said Amanda Vaughan, Senior Product Manager for Mott’s.


Warner, Doritos, & Gibson Guitars Run Music Promotion

Warner Custom Music is joining for a cross-promotion with Doritos and Gibson Guitars in which 50 million guitar picks featuring 14 Warner Music Group recording artists will be packaged into 56 million Doritos Super Grab Bags. One randomly placed ‘platinum pick’ entitles the bearer to an "unplugged" concert in their hometown featuring one or more of the "pick" artists.

"We are thrilled to partner with these companies to create awareness for our artists," said Brian Murphy, Exec. VP, Warner Custom Music.

Some 30,000 displays will drive sales of the Doritos bags in both convenience markets and in Sam Goody/Musicland music stores.


Eckrich Fun House Kicks Off Tour

Armour Swift-Eckrich has launched a promotion featuring the Eckrich Fun House, a 22’ long, 12’ high vehicle resembling a cartoon house.

The 1998 tour will benefit and raise funds for Second Harvest, the hunger-relief charity. The Fun House showcases Eckrich products including Hot Dogs, Smoked Sausages, Bold Ones and Tub BBQ.

Lever & Canon Run 'Picture Of America'

Lever Brothers and Canon U.S.A., are conducting the Your Picture Of America photo contest, which provides an opportunity for consumers to showcase their National Park experience.

The Grand Prize, a seven-day trip for four people to a choice of National Parks and Canon photography, video or binocular equipment, will be awarded by a panel of judges including acclaimed outdoor photographers.

All winners will receive a Lever "family pack" of products.Winning photos will be used to create Lever’s 1999 National Parks calendar.

This display for "Godzilla Vanilla Ice Cream" by Dreyers/Edys Grand Ice Cream, Inc., was part of the program entitled "Godzilla Vanilla takes over the frozen aisle." The complete in-store display consists of .008 clear electrostatic vinyl printed traffic cool signs and floor decals, and a giant inflatable Godzilla Claw. The marketing strategy and creative design was by Frankel Marketing Company, San Francisco, display pieces by One Source Ind., and the inflatable claw by Small Wonder Inflatable Inc., El Cajon, CA. This 4-sided tower for UTZ Quality Foods, Inc., is a low cost, easy set up display which merchandises up to four varieties of potato chips, the "Official Snack Food" of the New York Yankees. These inflatable surfer mattresses were produced for Frito Lay in an over-sized 56" by 35" measurement. They were printed in 4-color process on two sides. The surfer mattress was used in a special promotion and the pool and beach mattress was constructed of heavy gauge PVC with I-beams for additional stability. These fully dimensional inflatables were produced for the Doritos and Ruffles Monster Bash Promotion for Halloween. An inflatable Doritos bag was created with a three dimensional flying witch on both sides of the bag. The Ruffles bag inflatable has a dimensional ghost popping out of the bag. Both pieces are fully decorated on both sides using 4 color process printing for a more realistic effect. These items were manufactured with a water pocket on the bottom and a hanging tab at the top, allowing them to be displayed on the selling floor or from the ceiling. A double-wide SHOWOFF II was used for this merchandising program for Bio-Kingdom which opened channels for a variety of bird houses and seeds. The display features a mobile wheel base, and was customized to create a unique "Wild Bird Center". Each shelf is imprinted with various wild bird images. The unit has a high-profile bird house header and side panels display product information. The unit includes literature dispensers and product stabilizers to keep facings uniform. This new MooTown Snack Display was designed and produced for Sargento Foods. Breaside had a 3 1/2 week time frame to design and manufacture a single display that required housing for several varieties of the MooTown Cheeze & Crackers and other cheese and cookie products, for the Spring/Summer promotion. The MooTown Displays are strategically placed in the high traffic area inside the refrigerated soda cases for the grocery store and C-store markets. This Prosciutto Di Parma bi-level mirrored clock dresses up the deli or specialty items sections of retail outlets. The unit combines form with function, providing not only an accurate timepiece but a sales message. It lends a touch of class to the department in which it hangs. Heritage Frame and Glass, P.O. An in-bar sweepstakes was designed to support the new product launch of Lucky Strike Filters in key markets. In-bar signage created excitement and awareness of the sweepstakes program. A lighted, lucite display showcasing the custom Lucky Strike Filter Gibson Guitar that consumers could win, was displayed at bars across the country. Consumers completed entry forms for a chance to win the guitar and a database was developed with the sweepstake entries for future efforts. This display was designed as a generic Food Lion fixture and served as a Food Lion Household Cleaning Display. The purpose for this unit was to centrally locate many cleaning supplies to increase sales. However, this mobile unit could also be used for many other products. Litho printing on chipboard pre-packs was produced for Te Amo for twelve different displays, to pre-pack four different size cigar boxes and three tobacco wrapper styles with a small footprint. The Kaukauna Cheese Dip Display is a roll-about 2-sided adjustable, 6-shelf floor display design to merchandise various flavors of cheese dip and chips. There is a shelf for each of 5 flavors and the bottom shelf is utilized to stock large bags of chips. The product and packaging colors stand out and are presented in an appetizing manner on the white powder coated display. The Kaukauna logo, screened in 3 colors on both sides on the white header sign, provides strong brand identification. The display which is generally located in the deli section of food stores, is constructed from wire, tubing and metal and therefore very durable to stand up in a rough retail environment. The Battery Merchandising Center is a four-sided high impact graphic display. It can be assembled with 12 merchandising baskets (10 small and 2 large baskets) and or 376 metal scanner hooks (or any combination of trays and hooks. The Battery Merchandising Center is constructed of steel, flake board, pegboard and vacuum formed, injection molded and extruded plastic. The injection molded header has a door and storage area. Signage is highly visible with the four sided header and the large graphic uprights on all sides of the unit .The channels on the header and the uprights allow promotional signage to be inserted.
