Staples Features Digital Camera Info Centers

Staples is using this Digital Camera Information center to give Staples shoppers an easy and efficient way to request more information about digital cameras. The Information Center answers questions about how the camera works with a personal computer, how images are stored, and the effect of resolution on picture quality in an engaging and entertaining manner.

Each Information Center has a keypad, and shoppers press a key to learn more about particular topics in digital photography. In response to the shopper’s inquiry, the built-in television displays a multimedia presentation on the requested topic.

Bruce Bressler, Digital Camera Buyer at Staples, said "The interactive presentation really makes the advantage of digital camera technology come to life. We anticipate that the Info centers will help us significantly increase digital camera sales."

The Information Center was developed for Staples by MTi, Inc., a Hillsboro, OR-based developer of interactive media solutions.


Book Wizard Featured In Electronic Display

LeapFrog, Emeryville, CA, offers kids an interactive experience learning to read with BookWizard. With the touch of a wand, LeapFrog’s NearTouch sensing technology brings stories to life.

LeapFrog is using this interactive talking display to grab customers’ attention. Two full color storybooks demonstrate the interactive technology. An animated moving frog adds fun and excitement by jumping to three different lily pads.


Buick Opens New Flagship Stores

Buick recently debuted its new Flagship dealerships nationwide. The stores have a park-like setting featuring exterior canopies and awnings. A carillon clock tower stands near the store’s entrance and houses an information kiosk that customers can use to shop 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Customers stepping into the Flagship store’s foyer, known as a hospitalidor, are greeted by a welcomer who offers them refreshments as they stroll through the dealership’s automotive displays, information center and library. Oversized lifestyle graphics enhance the store’s friendly, comfortable atmosphere.

Robert Coletta, Buick General Manager said, "Through our Flagship stores, we’re creating comfortable, non-threatening retail environments where customers are free to gather information, browse and purchase cars."


MedeaWiz Inc., offers the DV-16 MPEG-1 all digital player for interactive display presentations. The unit offers all digital playback with no moving parts to break. The video quality is clear and sharp, and does not degrade gradually as occurs with VCR’s. There is no down time caused by tape rewinding or jamming. Dimension Technologies Inc. (DTI) offers a new 18.1" flat panel 3D LCD display. This new display features an 18.1" TFT LCD screen which provides the same viewing size as a conventional 21" CRT but does it in a footprint a fraction of the size of a CRT. The display allows both single and full-motion stereoscopic 3D images to be viewed in full color with display resolutions to 1280 x 1024 pixels and 16.7 million colors. Viewing mode can be switched from 2D to 3D with the push of a button; selectable stereo formats include side-by-side and field sequential. Inter-Act & A&P To Pilot Internet Based Marketing System

Inter-Act Systems, Inc., has entered into an agreement to pilot its next generation internet marketing technology with A&P stores. This technology lets consumers select customized product promotions in their home or office that are then downloaded to supermarkets.

It is the only system that can send electronic promotions selected at home or the office directly to our store’s cash registers. This paperless process enables convenient same-day savings for our millions of frequent shopper cardholders. Sky Features Sky TV Display Kiosk

Sky Latin America, L.L.C. is using this Sky Latin TV kiosk to reflect the premium quality of the Sky TV brand and content. The kiosk communicates the range of content offered in each country via a changeable graphic system. The quality constructed, durable kiosk establishes a strong visual presence in new markets.

The display is constructed from steel tubing, roll-formed perf steel, custom color-matched MDF, 4 color process screened styrene and vinyl.

The Sky TV kiosk was produced by Chicago Display Marketing, Melrose Park, IL.


Frank Mayer & Associates, Inc., Grafton, WI, will be showing "My Interactive Pooh Display" produced for Mattel Toys. A motion sensor causes Pooh to speak directly to the consumer and draws attention to the display. Four push buttons on the display activate different qualities of the toy, clearly showing its features. Because the display demonstrates the features/benefits of the toy so well, retailers have enthusiastically accepted the new product and display, and current sales have exceeded expectations. Thorco Industries, Lamar, Missouri, will be showing this Wal-Mart DVD Merchandising Showcase. The display features six tiered wire shelf assembler-sheet metal end panels with front pricing strips. A sheet metal and tubing frame support the TV monitor and electronic components. Each unit contains an 8" color die-cut reflective graphic kit. All metal components are finished in silver vein powder coat. The unit makes a bold statement that DVD has arrived at Wal-Mart and educates consumers about the new Digital Video Disk technology. MTH Interactive Kiosk Offers Realistic Visuals and Sounds

This interactive kiosk was designed for MTH Trains for use in upscale malls and department stores throughout the country The objective was to attract shoppers to the display by creating a realistic 6’ train facade with working lights and computer generated train sounds. The kiosk, which can be seen form hundreds of feet, draws shoppers from all sight points. Once there, they are able to fins out more about MTH Model Trains by using an interactive touch-screen. By using a credit card swipe located below the touchscreen, they are able to purchase trains and accessories, receive a receipt and have the purchase shipped to any locations within twenty-four hours. The MTH Interactive Kiosk was created by Design Development Resources, Inc., 1650 New Highway, Farmindgale, NY 11735.
