P&G Introduces Torengos

Procter & Gamble has introduced Torengos Tortilla Chips, the only triangular, white-corn tortilla chips with a “bowl” shape, curved for dipping and stacked in a resealable triangular canister to protect against breakage. With annual sales of tortilla chips soaring at a rate of 2.5 times faster than potato chips, Torengos satisfy a growing appetite for tortilla snacks.


Colgate-Palmolive Launches Irish Spring Vitamins

Colgate-Palmolive is introducing healthy skin benefits to its new Irish Spring Vitamins deodorant soap. Irish Spring Vitamins contains Pro-Vitamin E, an anti-oxidant that helps protect the skin against environmental stresses.

Irish Spring Vitamins targets young men who are becoming increasingly involved in personal care. Launch plans include media ads, event sponsorship, targeted sampling, in-store displays and demos.


Bausch & Lomb Ocuvite Supplement Launched

Bausch & Lomb has launched its new dietary supplement, Ocuvite PreserVision, a high-potency antioxidant and zinc formulation.

This formulation of vitamins and minerals preserves eye health and vision throughout the aging process in specific people. Ocuvite PreserVision is available as an over-the-counter nutritional.


Jack Daniel’s Debuts New Flavor

Jack Daniel's Country Cocktails is introducing Cranberry Jack, a new flavor to commemorate its 10th anniversary. “We felt the perfect way to celebrate 10 years was by introducing a new flavor that would truly be one to grow on,” said Chris Vignoe, Marketing Integration Manager for Jack Daniel’s. “As the 11th flavor, Cranberry Jack is the perfect flavor addition to Jack Daniels Country Cocktails family.”


Hawaiian Punch Soft & Chewy Candy Launched

Jaret International has introduced Hawaiian Punch Soft & Chewy Candy, delivering the familiar fruit punch taste kids and teens love in a new soft and chewy candy. “By leveraging the popular Icon-Punchy-and a brand name that has stood for fun and quality for more than 60 years, we have a product that will deliver a punch to the confectionery segment,” said Greg Barratt, Jaret’s President.


La-Z-Boy Slumber Air Mattress Introduced

La-Z-Boy has introduced the La-Z-Boy Slumber Air mattress system, which combines an air mattress with the Supreme Comfort Mattress by La-Z-Boy. The one-of-a-kind system consists of a five-inch air mattress that rests on top of the five-inch Supreme Comfort Mattress.

“Part of being a good host is giving your guests a comfortable place to sleep, which can sometimes be a challenge,” said Greg White, V.P., Merchandising for La-Z-Boy.


Sony Debuts LCD Screen For PS one Game Console

Sony Computer Entertainment America has introduced the LCD Screen (for PS one), the compact videogame console. The new LCD screen (for PS one), gives the popular gaming device more mobility so fans can play almost anywhere. At five inches diagonally, the lightweight peripheral delivers crisp resolution and stereo sound via built-in speakers. Offered as a new option for the PS one game console, the LCD Screen enables game play without the need for a full-size television, allowing consumers to share the game experience when on vacation, business trips, etc.

SPEEDO Debuts Surfrunner Underwater Radio

SPEEDO has introduced the Surfrunner 2000, an underwater lightweight radio that operates up to four feet under water and features waterproof headphones that are adjustable to fit various ear canals. Built-in coiled cords, which also are used as the FM antenna for the radio, are attached to the unit to allow it to clip to a belt, pocket, goggle strap or hat. One 3-volt lithium battery is needed to operate the Surfrunner.


GE Appliances Launches CustomCool Express Chill

The GE Profile Arctica Side-By-Side Refrigerator is the most comprehensive refrigeration system GE Appliances has ever offered.

A unique feature is the CustomCool Express Chill setting, which cools beverages in minutes, not hours. Express Chill can also be used to quickly chill cookie dough or gelatin desserts for family gatherings.


Edison Light Beer Debuts

New Century Brewing has introduced Edison light beer. Edison is the first national light beer launched by an independent firm exclusively flcused on the light beer category.

“We see a tremendous business opportunity in the light beer segment,” said Rhonda Kallman, CEO of New Century Brewing Co. “Edison is definitely not a craft beer or a microbrew-we’re targeting a mainstream, national audience who are increasingly opting for light beer.”


General Mills Debuts Wahoos! Corn Snacks

General Mills has launched Wahoos! Crispy Corn Snacks, the first new corn snack launch in several years. Wahoos! enhances General Mills’ position as a significant player in the salty snack category. The snacks are available in five sizes and three flavors: Seasoned Original, Nacho Fiesta and Backyard BBQ.


Ariva Smokeless Cigaletts In Test Market

Star Scientific is test marketing Ariva, which neither requires smoke to be inhaled into the lungs nor exposes others to second-hand smoke. Ariva is a compressed, powdered tobacco product designed to dissolve in the mouth and to be used during situations when smoking is prohibited or inconvenient. Paul Perito, Chairman, Star Scientific, said, “Ariva gives smokers an alternative, as well as a critical benefit: they are not taking the smoke into their lungs.” The cigalett pieces will be sold in 20-packs.

Motorola Debuts Ruggedized Mobile Phone

Motorola has introduced the ruggedized i55sr handset, a sporty mobile phone with rubber overmolding for durability in challenging environments. Designed to withstand extreme conditions, the Motorola i55sr handset meets military standards for shock and vibration resistance, and its rubber overmolding provides a better grip and protection for use in rugged conditions.


Sony Introduces New Designs For DVD Player

Sony Electronics has introduced the DVD Style3, also known as DVD Style Cube. The player stands out with its three-position functionality, slim shape and slot-loading disc mechanism. The player, which can be used vertically, horizontally or hung on a wall is versatile enough to complement any audio/video system.


Logitech Introduces Cordless Gaming

Logitech has announced the first 2.4GHz cordless controller for the PlayStation game console and the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system. “Today, we've extended cordless freedom to the PlayStation gaming environment. Users are no longer restricted by a corded controller,” said Ted Hoff, V.P., Logitech’s Interactive Entertainment Division.


Canon Debuts Elura DV Camcorder

The new Canon Elura 20MC digital camcorder from Canon U.S.A. boasts multiple shooting modes and connectivity options that make it highly versatile to complement DV-ready computers, TVs, and VCRs for video editing, printing and sharing images in the family room, classroom, boardroom and over the Internet.

The size of a cell phone, the Canon Elura 20MC records video and digital photos to the universal MiniDV digital videocassette.


Icebox FlipScreen Debuts

ICEBOX, LLC, a subsidiary of Salton, has introduced the ICEBOX FlipScreen model, a Web-enabled kitchen entertainment center, which supplies easy access to TV, Internet, DVDs, audio CDs and home video monitoring. Kitchens are riding a wave of consumer interest for new products that bring entertainment and communication to this space. “The ICEBOX is truly a new home entertaining category, offering broad family appeal and tremendous growth potential,” said John Robson, National Sales Manager at ICEBOX.


Waterpik Flosser Debuts

Waterpik Technologies has introduced its Automatic Flosser, a rechargeable or battery-operated product making flossing convenient.

“The Flosser’s design-ergonomic shape, sleek look, colorful style and portable size-has made it very popular with consumers,” said Tara Bain, Product Manager, Waterpik Technologies.
