Liz Claiborne Cosmetics has launched the Latin-influenced fragrances, Mambo, for both women and men.
“Liz Claiborne is making a cutting edge statement in recognizing the integration of Latin culture into everyday life-it's a fragrance for everyone,” said Sue Hochman, V.P. Sales, Liz Claiborne Fragrances.
New Hot Bites From Heinz
Heinz Frozen Foods has launched Hot Bites, a new line of handheld snacks in pizza and potato varieties. “Heinz expects Hot Bites to be a hit with tweens-kids between the ages of 9 to 14-and anyone who has a taste for adventurous alternatives to traditional snack foods,” said Neil Harrison, CEO, Heinz Frozen Foods. The spokesman for Hot Bites is Tony Hawk, the popular skateboarder and celebrity with tweens and teens.
New Butler Toothbrush Has Antibacterial Bristles
John Butler Co. has launched the first antibacterial bristle toothbrush with replaceable heads. The Butler GUM toothbrush has a patented antibacterial coating that reduces bacterial contamination on the bristles for 30 days.
Mattel Launches First Hispanic Themed-Barbie
In the Hispanic tradition, a girl’s fifteenth birthday is known as a quinceanera. To commemorate this, Mattel has launched Quinceanera Barbie, the brand's first Hispanic-tradition theme doll. “We know that there is a great interest in Barbie within the Hispanic market as well as a growing interest in cultural traditions among girls,” said Jamie Cygielman, V.P. Marketing, Mattel.
New Liquid Oxydol Targets Younger Users
Oxydol is targeting a new generation with Liquid Oxydol Extreme Clean laundry detergent. Research shows young consumers prefer liquid detergents. “Liquid Oxydol Extreme Clean builds on Oxydol's reputation for cleaning, linking to the interests and deep-cleaning needs of an active Generation-X” said Richard Owen, co-CEO of Redox Brands.
Estee Lauder Debuts The Private Spa Collection
Estee Lauder has introduced The Private Spa Collection, comprising seven bath products plus a candle containing mind-lifting scents.
Private Spa includes two fragrances, each designed to ease tension and encourage a tranquil, transporting experience. The line includes Crystal Glow Sugar Rub, Sea Plunge Calming Soak, Light Rain Moisture Droplets, Healing Essence for Mind and Body, Smoothing Feat Manicure/Pedicure Treatment, and SeaFoam Wash Gel Cleanser.
Softsoap Vitamins Are Introduced
Colgate-Palmolive has introduced Softsoap Vitamins body wash and liquid hand soap, with a water activated formula delivering Vitamin E to replenish the skin's supply. “Softsoap Vitamins will drive consumers to mass merchandisers by delivering Vitamin E benefits at a great price,” said Sheila Hopkins, V.P., & G.M., U.S. Personal Care for Colgate-Palmolive. A $20 million campaign will support the launch, including sampling, FSIs and in-store promotions.
P&G Debuts Charmin Fresh Mates
Procter & Gamble, which recently purchased Moist Mates, America's first moist bath tissue on a roll, plans to launch the product regionally under the name Charmin Fresh Mates. P&G’s Charmin bath tissue is the current market leader. “Together, these products offer consumers a convenient way to choose dry, moist or both,” said Wayne Randall, Global Franchise Manager for Charmin.
Finlandia Vodka Lime Is Introduced
Brown-Forman Beverages Worldwide has introduced Finlandia Vodka Lime, described as a smooth, delicious blend of pure premium Finlandia Vodka with a hint of natural lime. This new spirit joins classic Finlandia Vodka and Finlandia Vodka Cranberry in the Finlandia family.
Heinz Pet Snacks Launches Pounce Purr-fections
H.J. Heinz Co. has debuted Pounce Purr-fections, the newest pet snack introduction to the Heinz Pet Snacks family. The new gourmet cat snack combines a soft and creamy inside with a tasty, crunchy outside. Pounce Purr-fections is available in three gourmet flavors: oven-roasted breast of chicken, grilled yellowfin tuna, and shrimp and crab medley.
Brita Launches Water Filtration Bottles
Brita has launched the Fill & Go Water Filtration Bottle. Fill & Go is a durable plastic “sports bottle” with a drop-in replaceable activated carbon filter and a push-pull spout.
“Fill & Go is perfect for people on the move,” said Mira Kim, Marketing Director, Brita Products, Oakland, CA.
Brach’s Offers NSYNC Fruit Snacks
Brach’s Confections has introduced a new fruit snacks brand featuring musical group *NSYNC. The brand will be marketed under the “Hot Hits” name and will mark the first time that Brach’s has featured a musical group on fruit snacks packaging. Brach’s plans to feature other popular entertainment personalities in the future.
Sony Unveils New CLIE Handheld
Sony Electronics has unveiled its second generation CLIE handheld, marking the first time a Palm-Powered handheld will offer an embedded digital audio player and a high-resolution (320x320 pixels) color screen to deliver a rich multimedia experience. “Never before has something designed for the hand so excited the eyes and the ears,” said Russell Paik, V.P., Handheld Marketing at Sony.
Iomega Ships New Peerless Portable Storage Devices
Iomega Corp., has launched the Peerless 10GB and 20GB drive system, a new generation of portable high-speed storage devices. Doug Collier, Sr. V.P., Marketing Iomega, said, “With pocket-sized Peerless disks, users can back up an entire hard drive, and automatically protect all of their vital data with Iomega's QuikSync file backup software.”
Samsung Debuts Mini Yepp 32MB Digital Audio Player
Samsung has introduced the Mini Yepp, the world’s smallest USB-based 32MB digital audio player, featuring a cool, wearable design. Samsung’s new player will come bundled with audio tracks from top recording artists allowing users to enjoy music instantly out of the box. Russ Bleeker, Samsung’s Digital Convergence Marketing Manager, said, “The sleek egg shaped design of the Mini Yepp will be the rage for high school and middle school students as well as busy moms.”
ADT Launches iCenter
ADT Security Services, has launched ADT Safewatch iCenter, a comprehensive home security, communications and internet connectivity control center. The iCenter alarm also provides control of interior and exterior lights, garage doors, stereos, coffee makers and other small household appliances. Remote access to the iCenter is provided while on the road via ADT's web site or over the phone.
Motorola’s Accompli 008 Combines Phone And PDA
Motorola’s Accompli 008 is a new all-in-one phone embracing three of the most important technical/cultural trends of recent years: the mobile phone, the PDA, and the Internet. The Motorola 008 is a cell phone with PDA functionality and a large (240x320 pixel) grayscale LCD screen.
New Sports Card Game Features Electronics
Wizards of the Coast has released the NFL Showdown 2002 sports card game, which incorporates an electronic reader called The PlayGrid. The PlayGrid is a scanning device that reads, decodes and stores information from cards. Through a series of prompts and swipes, the PlayGrid computes each play result. “The PlayGrid allows us to take the traditional trading card game to the next level,” said Tom Goedde, Marketing Director for Wizards of the Coast.
