Coca-Cola Co. Launches POWERade OPTION

POWERade Option, a new low-calorie, low-carbohydrate sports drink from Coca-Cola Co., will be backed by an integrated marketing campaign including in-store merchandising, promotions and sampling.

Mary Herrera, Marketing Director at Coca-Cola NA, said, “Consumer interest in healthier, active lifestyles presents a significant opportunity for a low-calorie sports drink.”


Disney To Launch ‘That’s So Raven’ Fragrance

Raven, star of Disney Channel’s hit series “That’s So Raven,” will also be the star of her own fragrance, targeted to the tween demographic, age 6-14. The fragrance, was created by Disney Consumer Products (DCP) and boom! LLC.

Sheila Ullery, Category Director, DCP, said, “Girls identify with Raven’s flare for fashion. With boom!’s strong record in the fragrance market, That’s So Raven Fragrance is sure to be a hit with young girls everywhere.”


Bud Light In New Aluminum Bottle

Anheuser-Busch is introducing the Bud Light aluminum bottle, designed to help keep the beer super cold.

Dan McHugh, Sr. Director, Bud Light Marketing, said, “This Bud Light aluminum bottle is a major image enhancer and the type of look adults want when out enjoying a beer with friends.”


Canandaigua Introduces Arbor Mist Minis

Arbor Mist is entering the single-serve category with Arbor Mist Minis: four 187ml bottles, sold in fun, contemporary four-pack carriers. “Arbor Mist Minis are easy-to-drink, convenient, and casual, capitalizing on the popularity of the single-serve category,” said Josie Pagani, Marketing Director for Arbor Mist.

Point of sale support includes shelf talkers and display stackers.


Nickelodeon Characters Featured On Spinach

Nickelodeon has licensed several of its most popular TV characters, including SpongeBob SquarePants and Dora the Explorer, to several fresh produce distributors to introduce fruits and vegetable packages featuring the Nickelodeon characters. This is the latest initiative by Nickelodeon to encourage healthier diet choices for kids Boskovich Farms will feature SpongeBob Square Pants on its bags of spinach.


Celsius Calorie Burning Soft Drink Debuts

Elite FX has introduced Celsius, a new soft drink clinically proven to increase metabolism and burn calories. Drinking one 12-ounce bottle of Celsius increases metabolism by more than 12% over a 3-hour period, according to the Company.

Greg Horn of Specialty Nutrition Group, which helped to develop Celsius with Elite FX, said, “Moving from today’s no-calorie sodas to Celsius with net negative calories is the next natural evolutionary step in the diet soda market.”


Panasonic Launches Oxyride Battery

Panasonic has created a new advancement in battery technology: Oxyride. Oxyrides are a powerful, durable and disposable energy source that last up to twice as long as traditional alkaline batteries at a similar price.

The new batteries are designed to power today’s MP3 players, digital cameras and portable gaming devices.


Slingbox Gives Consumers TV ‘Anywhere-Anytime’

Sling Media, Inc., has introduced the Slingbox, which transforms PCs and laptops into personal on-the-go digital TVs. The Slingbox allows individuals anywhere-anytime access to their own living room television experience with no additional monthly service fees.

The Slingbox redirects or “placeshifts,” a TV stream from a cable box, satellite receiver or PVR to the viewer’s PC located anywhere in the home. If the Slingbox is coupled with a broadband Internet connection, the viewer’s live TV stream can be “placeshifted” via the Internet to a PC anywhere in the world.


Kopin & 3001 AD Bring Virtual Reality To Games

Kopin announced that virtual gaming developer 3001 AD, LLC has incorporated the BDM-230K into its Trimersion virtual reality system, which for the first time will bring virtual reality gaming to the Microsoft Xbox, Sony PlayStation and PCs.

“For years, virtual reality game systems were prohibitively expensive, available only to high-end arcades,” said Jimmy Barker, 3001 AD CEO. “With the Trimersion, viewers will no longer be playing games: they’ll be living them.”


Lexar’s LDP-200 Offers Style & Affordability

Lexar Media has introduced the LDP-200, a compact, stylish and affordable digital music player that provides unlimited music storage using inexpensive SD memory cards.

The LDP-200 also doubles as an SD card reader, making it a handy data transfer device. The LDP-200 joins Lexar’s full line of popular digital music players all supporting both MP3 and WMA music formats.


Hannspree Launches Design Driven Televisions

Hannspree California is drawing upon contemporary interior design trends to introduce televisions that uniquely accent any room and give expression to any taste or lifestyle with more than 100 original designs to choose from. For example, one TV echoes the classic wooden lines of a cello while another uses hand-stitched leather to replicate the look of a baseball.

Hannspree’s TVs come in three themed product lines: Style, Fantasy and Sports.


Directed Mobile Media Debuts Portable Player

Directed Electronics is introducing its Portable Media Player model PMP3520. This lightweight, pocket-sized video and audio player stores digital content on a 20 Gigabyte hard drive, and plays it back on a 3.5” digital LCD screen. The device allows users to transfer video and audio content from TVs, camcorders, computers, and memory cards.

Jim Minarik, President, Directed Electronics, said, “We see the portable media players market as a logical extension of the popularity of portable MP3 players.”
