General Motors showcased its brands at the 2000 North American International Auto Show in Detroit with a 164,500-sq.-ft. two-level display called The GM Experience. The largest showcase ever presented at a North American auto show housed vehicles from all of the company’s brands in the same exhibit space for the first time. Each brand was showcased through distinctive architecture to reflect its unique positioning. The GM Experience incorporated an 800-seat theater, a cafe, and VIP areas to communicate corporate safety, environmental and technology displays. The "Experience Theater" accommodated 1,200 viewers on two levels. An "Environmental Lab" housed a demonstration of GM’s environmental and recycling efforts. The heritage of the company was shown on both a creative wall highlighting General Motors’ history and a display of significant GM vehicles of the 20th century.
Exhibitgroup/Giltspur has named David Hardbarger as President and General Manager of its newly created design company, Archeon Design, Inc. "Archeon Design is a manifestation of our commitment to excellent design," said Charles Corsentino, CEO of Exhibitgroup/Giltspur. Archeon is based in the San Francisco Bay area with future offices expected to open in key design markets. The expansion included the addition of 12,000 sq. ft. to the Company’s existing 20,000 sq. ft. construction shop and provides more space to keep up with a 40% increase in sales over last year. The Folio Group, a Worcester, MA exhibit firm, has acquired Grondorf Field Black & Co., an exhibit firm, founded by Michael Field and Herbert Grondorf in 1978. Michael Field and David Black will stay on with Folio. Sean Mahoney, President, The Folio Group, said, "This acquisition enables us to expand into the Southern California markets by acquiring a premier company with highly experienced management." The transaction is consistent with Folio’s objective of entering new markets through acquisition of existing operations whose management teams join Folio.

Dave Gentile has acquired the ownership interests of his former partner Skip Speerschneider, making him the owner and now Chief Executive Officer of Exhibit Enterprises of Dearborn, MI. The original business was started in 1981. This transaction streamlined and simplified those ownership structures, according to Gentile. Derek Gentile has been named President of Exhibit Enterprises and provides the second generation of Gentile family leadership.

Harry London Chocolates required an exhibit depicting an atmosphere of sophistication and quality in which buyers could create programs for the coming seasons. The exhibit was constructed of stained wood with raised gold logos and areas for product display and graphics. Wrought iron furniture and custom tile flooring helped set the atmosphere. The unit was designed to be modular and may be used as a 20’, 30’, or 40’ in-line display. It proved most successful by introducing new buyers to the product line and achieving the “quality” image of the Harry London Company.
