The Trade Show Exhibitors Association, (TSEA), Springfield, VA, has named Michael Bandy as President. He replaces Peter Mangelli, who has retired and will serve as President Emeritus through Dec. 31, 1998. Mr. Bandy has more than 14 years of association experience, and has spent more than 11 years with TSEA as Director of Communications and Vice President. The TSEA also announced that the the 1998-99 Board of Directors has officially taken office. The Trade Show Exhibitors Association’s (TSEA) recently released "1999 Budget Guide" finds that TSEA members are spending the following average amounts annually for exhibit related services: $210,842 for exhibit space; $203,835 for travel/lodging/entertainment; $138,963 for show services; $75,990 for exhibit design; $71,588 for exhibit shipping; $46,877 for exhibit promotion; and $28,721 for other exhibit related items. Some 20% of TSEA members spend more than $330,000 annually for exhibit space; 18% spend $165,001-$330,000, and 26% spend $82,501-$165,000. Lynch Industries, a Burlington, NJ-based exhibit designer and producer, has appointed Sig Tragard as Director of Sales and Marketing, according to an announcement by John McDonald, President. Mr. Tragard has over 20 years of experience in the exhibit industry. He previously was Manager of Sales and Marketing for the Pittsburgh division of Gilstpur Expo Industries.


The Maxima Truss System by Octanorm, designed to be compatible with other systems made by Octanorm, is available in both triangular and ladder styles and attaches to an eight sided connector, which allows for 45 degree connections. The connection is made in seconds by hand tightening 2 wing nuts. Registered attendance forTS2 98 in San Francisco was up 13% over last year, from 4,368 to 4,948, according to Mike Bandy, President of the Trade Show Exhibitors Association, (TSEA). George Little Management, White Plains, NY, in cooperation with the Jacob Javits Convention Center, NYC, has developed the Javits North Pavilion, a new temporary exhibit facility offering approximately 30,000 net square feet of exhibit space. Located at the North end of the Javits Center, the Javits North Pavilion will measure 136 feet wide by 400 feet long, with a center ceiling height of 45 feet. The structure will accommodate between 300 and 320 booths. The Javits North Pavilion will also be available to other show management companies.


CBE Exhibits & Events, a Houston, TX-based exhibit firm, has been acquired by Production Resource Group (PRG), LLC of New Windsor, NY. Jeff Marmack, CBE’s President said "PRG will bring a whole new breadth of services and an international network of resources to CBE clients." PRG is a collaboration of companies specializing in technical and creative products and services for trade show exhibits, and special events.

In an effort to help restore damaged forest ecosystems, Colossal Events, Inc., Ortley Beach, NJ, has announced a goal of planting a minimum of 100,000 trees by the end of the century. Colossal Events produces an exclusive method of tradeshow exhibit and scenery packaging called Doll-Ease. For every Doll-Ease built for a client, Colossal Events will donate ten trees. Doll-Ease are already environmentally friendly, according to the company. Traditional crating techniques consume an enormous number of trees. Doll-Ease on the other hand, uses 1/10 of the lumber needed for crates and can be re-configured and re-cycled exhibit after exhibit.
