International Paper is using this motion-filled trade show booth that is created almost entirely from its Gatorfoam graphic arts board. The 20-by-20 foot booth, which stands 18 feet tall, consists of a metal framework onto which 96 12-inch black Gatorfoam cubes are attached. Each cube is decorated with vinyl graphics featuring digitally printed images from International Paper’s “Nothing Beats The Original” marketing campaign. Every two minutes, these cubes, powered by 24 electric motors, rotate to reveal a new message. The booth was designed by Hargrove, Inc., a Lanham, MD-based exhibit firm.
Elliott Fredland has been named Managing Director of Corporate Sales and Marketing for Exhibitgroup/Giltspur, Roselle, IL. Also, Liese Tamburrino has been hired as V.P., International Sales and Marketing. Dennis Kalinoski has been promoted to Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Exhibitgroup/Giltspur’s Chicago region. He was most recently Vice President of Sales at the Company’s Minneapolis office. Mark Harnischfeger and Jim Miller have been promoted to the Vice President level in the Company’s Rochester, N.Y. office. Harnischfeger was promoted to V.P. Sales & Marketing. Miller has been promoted to V.P., Operations.
The Smithsonian O. Orkin Insect Safari, the most ambitious insect education initiative ever undertaken, will encourage children and their families to explore the world of insects. Housed in a multicolored 53-foot mobile unit, the Insect Safari is filled with interactive displays, and imaginative illustrations. Entomologists will guide visitors through the separate exhibit rooms and engage students in safari related learning exercises.
Alutile has introduced the Mural display system consisting of curved aluminum panels. The panel incorporates its own channeling system. Although the panel is only 050” thick, its curved shape gives it strength. An infinite combination of structures can be easily attained with basic elements. Mobility Resource Associates (MRA), a St. Clair Shores, MI-based mobile tour management firm and Exhibitgroup/Giltspur, recently created the Jetsons Open House Tour for Century 21. A semitrailer was outfitted to house the mobile exhibit. “We knew we had a challenge to create an environment which met people’s expectations of what the Jetsons’ house might be like while reaching Century 21’s marketing goals,” said Mark Burns, Creative Director, Exhibitgroup/Giltspur’s Atlanta, office. When visitors first enter the exhibit, they encounter a full-sized version of the Jetsons’ transport tube. Rosie, the Jetsons’ faithful robot, greets visitors. As visitors walk down the hallway, they can look “outside” and see space ships flying by. Monitors serve as the “windows” playing excerpts from the cartoon. The interactive kitchen features a new aroma technology. Visitors are then flown into a neighborhood of the future where the animated feature delivers Century 21’s marketing message.
MC2, a Chestnut Ridge, NY-headquartered presence marketing firm, has acquired EventSource, a corporate meeting and event production company based in St. Louis, MO. Bill Decker, President, Eventsource, will join MC2 as Group President, Meetings and Events. MC2 also announced that John Saltonstall has joined MC2 Las Vegas as Director of Corporate Events. Shawn Garrity has been appointed Sr. Exec. V.P., New Business Development, based in the corporate office in St. Louis. Michael Garrity was named the new President of MC2 Las Vegas. Most recently, he served as President, Meridian Logistics. MC2 has also named Vanessa Saunders as V.P., International Marketing who will oversee expansion of MC2’s international marketing efforts.
Digital Video Dynamix, Inc. is helping IBM recruit the next generation of technology workers. DVD recently put the finishing touches on the master for a Spectral Imagery hologram produced by Holophile Inc. for IBM’s College Relations and Recruiting Division. IBM is using the presentation at over 200 college career fairs annually to attract traffic to its exhibit booth. Contained in a tabletop kiosk, the presentation is complete with full-color 3D moving images, sound track and graphics, and features the IBM spokesperson, Leonardo DaVinci. The 10-inch high, 3-dimensional image of DaVinci is projected onto a miniature stage set as a museum gallery. Paul Barefoot, President, Holophile said, “This presentation system can convey huge amounts of information in a stimulating and highly memorable way. It’s an excellent vehicle to differentiate the company on a crowded exhibit floor.”
Pevnick Design produces computer controlled fountains for trade shows and special events. A Company’s name and slogan can appear in large sparkling water droplets. In a permanent installation, images can be passed to the fountain over the Internet, facilitating graphics changes. Pevnick Design offers four different sized computer run fountains, ranging in depth from 4” to 12” and in width from 4’ to 12’. Fountains and water graphics are custom designed. Fountains are available for lease or sale for permanent installations. Kohler recently used Pevnick’s quarter depth, 12 ft. linear fountain, 26’ tall, at the Home Builders show in Dallas, TX. The basin below the Kohler water image served as a tunnel entrance to the exhibit.
