This Metricom/Ricochet exhibit is a 30' x 30' island environment comprised of stretched, sheer white fabric and aluminum. The objectives were to debut the new Metricom product, Ricochet, to the wireless communications marketplace; provide an eye-catching environment that was cost-effective from both a production and show service standpoint; establish a strong presence at Internet World; and create an environment that visually captures the essence of the product: wireless web access. The exhibit embodied the open freedom of Ricochet’s web connection; fabric structures not only provided an economical solution but also allowed for easy transportation and low drayage costs; the stark white color scheme offered a visual simplicity, reflecting Ricochet’s ease of use. This exhibit was created for Ricochet by Contempo Design, Libertyville, IL.

Xerox Media West specializes in the production of trade show exhibits that synthesize leading edge entertainment practices. “What we’re doing is different from using a vaudeville act to draw a crowd,” said Dennis Frahmann, V.P., Global Event Marketing at Xerox. “We never start with the act. We start with the message, and then focus on how to present that message in the most dramatic way possible.” This dramatic approach has earned Xerox a string of “hits” including the staging of an innovative game show at a recent PC Expo that had prospective contestants lined up the length of the show floor to answer questions about core Xerox messages. The Company's new Innoventions exhibit at Disney World, complete with a “reading robot dog,” is drawing record crowds. Last year’s shows at PC Expo featured a beatnik coffee house poetry reading to introduce new products and a witty one-woman show about working better and faster through Xerox.

TSEA will take the show east to Washington D.C. July 21-24, 2003, and will host one of the first shows in its new convention center.
