Classic American Home magazine has embarked on a program to create actual physical spaces that bring its design pages to life. The magazine developed a 600-sq. ft. guest cottage, which was on display to the general public for the first time at the JVC Jazz Festival in Newport, Rhode Island. Jason Kontos, Classic American Home Editor-in-Chief, said, “The cottage was the perfect way to bring our pages to life and to feed that need for people to have something physical to view when considering new design ideas.”



Abex Display Systems, a North Hollywood, CA-based supplier of exhibit systems, has opened a newly renovated and expanded manufacturing facility. Abex will utilize the additional 40,000 sq. ft. space to further develop its fabric, laminate and paint departments. “The newly expanded facilities will increase our productivity and maximize efficiencies,” said Robbie Blumenfeld, President & CEO of Abex.


“Creating Magic” was the theme for the recent 8,000 sq. ft. Little Tikes Toy Fair exhibit. Enchanting graphics and theatrical lighting enticed retail toy buyers. The Infant-Preschool vignette spotlighted developmental toys with hot lighting activated by step-on buttons. The Outdoors vignette beckoned with towering trees and rear-projected videos. The Ride-On Toys section featured a simulated Brooklyn Bridge. The Sports vignette was interactive, with buyers encouraged to shoot hoops and hit homeruns. The exhibit was produced by The Rogers Co., Cleveland, OH.

Prism Design, a tradeshow exhibit designer and producer located in Phoenix, Arizona, has added three seasoned tradeshow executives as part of a recent expansion of the sales team due to the implementation of a new program called Strategic Rental Solutions. The newly appointed executives are Sheilah Dancer, Darin Kooi and Ms. T Wilson.


StrayLight Corp. developed a Virtual Reality trade show promotion for Parke-Davis’ Accupril hypertension medication. “Vessel Command” virtually sends doctors inside the bloodstream to experience Accupril’s mechanism of action. Players were virtually sent down the bloodstream to lock Accupril molecules into the appropriate receptor sites. The real-time game action was visible to bystanders through a large video wall and plasma screens connected to each VR station. The game is played on StrayLight’s stand-up Virtual Reality stations. Each player has the freedom to look around the 360 degree computerized-world by wearing a Virtual Reality helmet. At a recent Kitchen/Bath Industry Show, American Standard used EPOP’s interactive technology to feature its “ClearTap” faucets. EPOP is a self-contained interactive unit that delivers video information via a liquid crystal screen. “We were looking for an eye-catching way to draw people into the booth and display the unique product features of ClearTap in an upscale environment,” said Carol Houlik, American Standard’s Marketing Director, Kitchen Faucets. Kmart Corp. and Don Coleman Advertising selected Mobile Resource Associates, a mobile tour management company headquartered in St. Clair Shores, MI, to create a mobile gospel museum. The museum features “Wade in the Water: African American Sacred Music Traditions, 1871-2001,” an exhibition from the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES). Kmart, as part of its program celebrating diversity, Share the Word, has made this mobile museum possible. The exhibition is featured in a 48’ expandable trailer, built by Trailer Technologies, of Walled Lake, MI.
