Philadelphia’s Longwood Gardens recently made its trade show debut at the Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg, PA. The challenge for exhibit design firm, Nimlok Philadelphia, was to transform the theme, “The Garden of a Lifetime, a Century in the Making,” to the trade show environment. Nimlok Philadelphia, created a building that abstracted the Orangery, a part of the iconic Conservatory, and the heart of floral displays at Longwood Gardens, into a trade show environment. Ed Oxenham, of Nimlok Philadelphia, said, “To attract the most attention, we recreated the arched windows, the unique raised ceiling and the columns, all in a 20' x 40' custom exhibit.”
Coordinated Assistance Network (CAN) is using this “Zig Zag” exhibit, from Xtra Lite Displays, Burnsville, MN, (www.xtralite.com), at trade shows. The new exhibit system sets up instantly and provides strong graphics support.
ZAPiT Games recently exhibited its new Game Wave game console. Game Wave is a DVD-based game console that hosts up to six players or teams. Unlike other game consoles, Game Wave’s emphasis is on player interaction similar to traditional board games. This system uses up to six wireless remote controls for fast, wait-free interactive play of family-oriented content including trivia, word, casino and “parlor” games. The exhibit gave attendees the chance to try the new console.
Vue-More Manufacturing creates turntables with capacities from 5-2,000 lbs. for display and exhibit applications. The company manufactures the patented Rotolite brand. Caleel + Hayden, a Denver, CO-based cosmetics company, needed an exhibit that would showcase its products and have plenty of storage space. The result was a custom exhibit with a living room feel. The exhibit premiered in Las Vegas at the 2006 International Eesthetics Cosmetics & Spa Conference and won ‘Best in Show’. “Everyone was impressed with its appearance and atmosphere,” said Kendra Gangaware, Marketing Coordinator for Caleel + Hayden. The award-winning exhibit was created by ExpoDisplays, Birmingham, AL.
Homes of Color magazine, the first national home magazine for African-Americans and IKEA, have partnered to celebrate the kitchen and family room as the nucleus of African-American living. The 1,500 sq. ft. Home & Heritage Exhibit premiered at the Commerce & Industry Show at the NAACP 2006 National Convention in Washington D.C. Renowned architect Josiane Raphael, and IKEA combined creative talents to blend a kitchen, family room and outdoor living room to demonstrate a space that is mindful of the home as the foundation of the African-American family.

The C.W. Allen Group recently unveiled HypoSurface at the 2006 International Manufacturing Technology Show. HypoSurface is the world’s first digital architecture and is capable of interacting with light, sound, touch and movement. Thousands of computer-controlled actuators are able to work in concert to create a fluid surface that makes waves. 3D Exhibits, an Elk Grove Village, IL-based exhibit design, fabrication and management company, has added industry veteran Debbie Christensen as Account Manager.
