Budweiser Select Launched Nationally

Anheuser-Busch is launching Budweiser Select, a "new kind of beer" that is brewed for a crisp taste with no aftertaste. Budweiser Select has only 3.1 grams of carbohydrates, 99 calories and 4.3% alcohol by volume per 12 oz. serving. The brand spends approximately twice as long as regular beers in the brewhouse. With its eye-catching graphics, and unique "pinch neck" bottle, Budweiser Select is described as a sophisticated, upscale beer for all drinking occasions. Budweiser Select is supported by a full line of point-of-sale and merchandising materials in addition to television, outdoor, radio and print advertising.


LeapFrog's Pink Leapster Targets Girl Gamers

In response to the surge of tween and teen girls entering gaming market, LeapFrog Enterprises has introduced a pink Leapster Learning System. The Leapster system now has great software titles targeting the girl gamer including Junie B. Jones and Disney Princesses. The Leapster system is actually four systems in one: interactive video player, handheld gaming system, creativity platform and digitized book reader. The Leapster Multimedia Learning System retails for $79.99 with software sold separately.


PowerBar Triple Threat Energy Bar Line Debuts

PowerBar is introducing PowerBar Triple Threat, a line of four new energy snack bars that fuel like a PowerBar and taste like a candy bar. Offered in both crispy and chocolate-caramel-layered textures, PowerBar Triple Threat bars deliver great taste and the energy and nutrition guys need to power through a busy day. The PowerBar Triple Threat bars contain 220 to 230 calories and are free of trans fats. The line will be available this spring.


Nestle Launches Pure Life Calorie-Free Flavored Water

Nestle Waters N.A. is introducing Nestle Pure Life Natural Fruit Flavors, a non-carbonated water beverage with zero calories and zero carbohydrates, that is sweetened with SPLENDA. It comes in four flavors: Lemon Splash, Orange Splash, Raspberry Splash and Strawberry Splash. Said Angela Vradenburgh, Senior Marketing Manager, Nestle Waters, "Seventy four percent of Americans regularly consume bottled water, and this new beverage provides the best of both worlds, an exciting, flavorful alternative to plain water and a healthier alternative to soda and other sugary beverages."


New Nature Valley Sweet & Salty Nut Granola Bars Created

For those who love sweet but also crave salty, Nature Valley brings the best of both worlds together in one bar with Nature Valley Sweet & Salty Nut Granola Bars. Now available in stores nationwide, Nature Valley Sweet & Salty Nut Granola Bars come in two flavors, Peanut and Almond.

A.T. Cross Names C. Mellen V.P., Global Marketing

A.T. Cross Company has named Charles Mellen as Vice President, Global Marketing. In this position, Mellen will be responsible for creating and directing marketing and new product development programs that build brand momentum and sales on a global basis. Most recently, Mellen was V.P. of Marketing for Tumi, Inc., Prior to this, Mellen was the Director of Business Dev. and Men's Products and Footwear for Coach, Inc.


Cabot Promotes L. Ayer To Mktg. Production Manager

Cabot, a leading manufacturer of wood care products, has promoted Laura Ayer to Marketing Production Manager. Ayer has been instrumental in the development and distribution of Cabot in-store merchandising including an Interior Rack Display and Exterior Woodcare Center. In her new position, she will manage all aspects of marketing production working closely with the Cabot Marketing team and Category Managers.


Stater Bros. Markets Promotes P. Brown To Dir. of Advtg.

Stater Bros. Markets has promoted Patti Brown to the new position of Director of Advertising, reporting to Jerry Bee, V.P. of Advertising. She has been with the Company for 22 years and previously served as Manager of the Advertising Department. Stater Bros. currently operates 160 full service supermarket locations in California.
