IBM Display Promotes ThinkPad 365 Notebooks

In conjuction wth an estimated $45 million global advertising campaign for ThinkPad, IBM is using innovative counter displays to promote its Thinkpad 365 Notebooks for the main stream market. The display features a flashing light, to attract consumers to the newest line of ThinkPads, which features 10.4-inch color screens, integrated CD-ROM drives, accelerated video performance, wireless infrared printing and file swapping, integrated TrackPoint 111 point devices and preloaded software.

The ThinkPad 365 series was designed for those such as small business owners who need an affordable mobile computing solution.


Display Masters Names S. Kamp, Dir. of Custom Sales & Develop.

Display Masters, Whitestone, New York, has appointed Stephen Kamp to Director of Custom Sales and Develop-ment, according to an announcement by Dick Jay, President. Mr. Kamp will work closely with customers to develop custom point-of-purchase displays from concept through completion. In addition, he will use the resources of Display Masters’ sister company, Display Technologies, to provide stock displays with “a custom look.

Mr. Kamp was previously with American Tobacco Co. serving as Key Accounts Manager and District Sales Manager.


Woolworth Corp. Names H. Chasin, V.P. Advtg. For Athletic Footwear Div.

The Athletic Footwear and Apparel Division, Woolworth Corp., New York City, has named Hilary Chasin to the new post of Vice President, Advertising and Vendor Development. Ms. Chasin is responsible for the creative development and execution of all corporate and vendor development advertising activities for the athletic divisions, which include Foot Locker, World Foot Locker, Lady Foot Locker, Kids Foot Locker, Champs Sports, and Athletic X-Press. Ms. Chasin was formerly Vice President Retail Brand Director for Lady Foot Locker.


Showtime Enterprises Adds To Staff

Showtime Enterprises, Inc. a Paulsboro, NJ - based display and exhibit firm, has announced key additions to its senior staff. W. Randolph "Randy" Childress has been named National Sales Director, bringing over 20 years experinence in the trade show and P.O.P. industries. David Shamlian has been named Director of Design, bringing 10 years of industrial and trade show design experiences. Lorraine Clementi has been appointed Project Manager in the Display Division.


Absolut Vodka Unveils Absolut Art At Point-of-Sale

Seagram’s Absolut Vodka has commissioned artist Mark T. Smith to interpret the brand’s image for the sole purpose of creating a point-of-sale program guaranteed to make customers stop, stare and reach for Absolut. The Absolut Smith program depicts the famous Absolut bottle in a contemporary fashion, while bold graphics feature the logo colors of the Absolut brands -- Citron yellow, Kurant purple, Peppar red and Absolut Vodka blue. P.O.S. materials include a motion pole display and dimensional case cards.
