Colgate Barbie Toothpaste Introduced
Colgate-Palmolive is introducing Colgate Barbie Toothpaste and coordinating Barbie toothbrushes. "Girls love Barbie and parents trust Colgate," said Jack Haber, Vice President and General Manager of U.S. Oral Care for Colgate-Palmolive. "With 100% awareness with both girls ages 3-7 and their moms, girls will want to brush with their friend Barbie." National promotional support includes high value newspaper inserts and instant redeemable coupons on floorstands.
Maytag's New Electric Range Has Two Ovens
Maytag Corporation's major appliance division has introduced a freestanding electric range that has two ovens, but requires no more space than a 30-inch freestanding single-oven range. The Maytag Gemini range features a large 4 cu. ft. oven with a separate, independently controlled 1.2 cu. ft. oven above it. The dual ovens give busy home chefs the opportunity to cook different menu items simultaneously at different temperatures, thus solving one of the most common problems in meal preparation. Maytag Gemini ranges will be available in July.
'StartMe Up' Jumps Dead Car Batteries
StartMe Up is a new palm-size emergency car battery jump-starter that enables consumers to recharge a drained battery from the safety and comfort of their own car. Unlike traditional jumper cables that use another car to recharge the battery, StartMe Up plugs directly into the vehicle's cigarette lighter and recharges the battery in about five minutes. "StartMe Up is a safety product," said Kyle Burns, President and CEO of Future Labs, the Philadelphia-based research and product development company that pioneered the product. "It provides motorists with peace of mind knowing that they will never be stranded with a drained battery again." Future Labs has partnered with Polaroid to develop and manufacture the new product.
Nabisco Runs Mr. Peanuts Hot Rod/NASCAR Tour
To celebrate Planters as the Official Snack of NASCAR, Nabisco is conducting the Mr. Peanut's Hot Rod tour of 35-plus cities. The Mr. Peanut's Hot Rod is a 23-feet, 6-inches long, 12-feet, 6-inch tall, peanut-shaped specialty vehicle, which will stop at selected NASCAR events, giving fans the chance to explore the excitement of racing, sample Planters products and meet Mr. Peanut, the ambassador of The Planters Company.
The Mr. Peanut's vehicle is constructed from the frame of a GMC truck and features on its roof a giant Mr. Peanut, measuring 12-feet, 6-inches in height, complete with signature black top hat, monocle and walking stick. Using special "green screen" technology, visitors to the vehicle will have an opportunity to be photographed in the racing action alongside NASCAR drivers, as well as with Mr. Peanut.
Columbia TriStar Home Video Names C. Lodinger Snr. VP, Mktg.
Columbia TriStar Home Video has named Cheryl Lodinger Senior Vice President of Marketing, North America. In her new post, Lodinger will oversee all domestic marketing activities including the creation and implementation of strategic marketing plans, advertising, promotions, creative services and marketing research. Prior to this, Lodinger was Senior Vice President at McCann Erickson - Los Angeles, where she acted as Group Director for the Sony Pictures Entertainment advertising account.
Spalding Appoints E. Binder Exec. VP Of Marketing
Spalding Sports Worldwide, Inc. has appointed Ed Binder to the position of Executive Vice President of Marketing for Spalding Sports Worldwide. Binder will be responsible for overseeing all marketing and advertising of Spalding's golf and sporting goods products in the U.S., and for core products, worldwide. Binder was previously Vice President of Marketing for Dunkin' Donuts.
First Team Sports Names S. Vinson Snr. Vice President of Sales & Mktg.
First Team Sports, Inc., Minneapolis, MN, has named Sonny Vinson to the newly created position of Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. He will oversee sales and marketing worldwide for the Ultra Wheels, Skate Attack, Crossover and Sports4Kids product lines. Prior to joining the Company, Vinson was Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Bravo Corporation, a CA-based manufacturer of inline skate wheels, Boss speed bearings and Hub skateboards.
Haas Multiples Changes Name To Entolo
Haas Multiples, Minneapolis, MN, has announced its name change to Entolo, reflecting the Company's expanded services and locations as a result of its union with Production Resource Group, LLC (PRG) of New Windsor, NY. Entolo is now a single resource for full service strategic planning, design, fabrication, installation and ongoing project management serving the retail, corporate event, themed destination and entertainment markets. Entolo is partnering with PRG to offer additional capabilities in lighting, audio and systems integration. In addition to its Minneapolis headquarters, Entolot is adding offices in NY, Las Vegas and Houston.
