Southcorp Introduces Little Penguin Wine Brand In North American Market

Southcorp, Australia's largest winemaker and producer of premium wines, is releasing a new brand, the Little Penguin, in the North American market. The range will consist of four single-varietal wines (Chardonnay, Merlot, Shiraz, and Cabernet Sauvignon), which will be available in both 750ml and 1.5L formats. Doug Rogers, Sr. V.P. of Marketing, said, "We wanted a non-traditional brand and what better Australian character to grace the label than one of the country's least 'traditional' animals, the penguin, which also happens to live around the southern coastline of Australia, the very same coastline that frames Australia's best wine growing regions." The Little Penguin wine brand will be available from July in retail outlets across the U.S.


Disney Displays Support W.I.T.C.H. Book Launch

Disney Publishing Worldwide is launching W.I.T.C.H., a new book series for tween girls in the U.S. market. An emerging girl property, W.I.T.C.H. is already the fastest growing girls' comic magazine in the world. The first title will offer a hybrid format that combines four-color comics with a traditional chapter book.

Capitalizing on the synergies created through The Walt Disney Company, the W.I.T.C.H. publishing program has an unparalleled marketing campaign behind it, including national print advertising, a dedicated website at www.clubwitch.com, value-added giveaways, book samplers at promotional movie screenings and point-of-purchase displays. A holographic paper is used to print the floor display, to make it appear 3D and reflect light.


Paulaner June Promotion Offers Patio Umbrellas For Summer Relaxation

In Munich, Germany, it's a centuries old tradition to unwind under the shade of chestnut trees. This summer, Paulaner beer brings this tradition to the U.S. by offering consumers a chance to relax in the shade with custom-made Paulaner umbrellas. The offer is part of Paulaner's June promotion which will prominently feature the branded umbrellas both on-premise and off-premise.

Off-premise, retailers can use Paulaner umbrellas as display enhancers in stores to re-create the beer garden atmosphere and draw attention and sales. Customers will have an opportunity to purchase a Paulaner umbrella for home use, via a tear pad offer.

"The June promotion provides tools to introduce consumers to Paulaner Hefe-Weizen while encouraging them to try one, especially if they are not familiar with the brand," said Mary Anschutz, Star Brand Imports Brand Manager for Paulaner beer, brewed in Munich, Germany since 1634 and known worldwide for its quality.


Nylabone Displays Dental Care Products For Dogs

Nylabone is using point-of-purchase displays to support the launch of the Quest Multi Care Dental System for Dogs, featuring NutriDent Edible Dental Chews.

Nylabone's Quest Multi Care Dental System consists of three components, which are also sold separately. Woodford Reserve Promotion Ties Into Kentucky Derby

Woodford Reserve bourbon has run an on- and off-premise promotion to celebrate its title as the "Official Bourbon of the Kentucky Derby" for the sixth year.

Vibrant recipe table tents feature the perfect way to celebrate the world's most legendary horse race-the Woodford Reserve Ultimate Mint Julep, Woodford Old Fashioned and the Woodford Reserve Manhattan. Elegant rocks glasses and coasters feature both the Woodford Reserve and Derby logos. Woodford Reserve is marketed by Brown-Forman Corporation.


New Kenmore Refrigerators Feature PUR Water Filtration

Kenmore and Kenmore Elite refrigerators filtered with the PUR Ultimate water filter, have been introduced at Sears, Roebuck and Co. stores nationwide. These refrigerators give consumers clean, great tasting water and ice, always on tap, at a fraction of the cost of bottled water. Produced by Procter & Gamble, PUR ultimate filtration reduces contaminants such as chlorine taste and odor, lead, sediment, herbicides and pesticides, among other contaminants, more than any other refrigerator. The Kenmore and Kenmore Elite refrigerators filtered with PUR Ultimate filters have been designed to make filter changing easy and convenient. On the Kenmore model, a filter indicator light eliminates guesswork, turning from green to red when the filter needs to be replaced. The Kenmore Elite model features a LED readout showing the numeric percent of filter life remaining.


Making its debut at the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International's recent trade show in Chicago, IL, Hotel Derek's Traveling Hotel Room Display gives guests a "feel" for what it's like to visit and sleep in the Houston, Texas hotel, all in the space of a 10' x 20' trade show display. The Hotel Derek "Traveling Hotel Room Display" highlights many of the unique features that comprise the hotel's guestroom, including a bed featuring a pillow-top mattress and signature black pinstriped goose-down duvet; Hotel Derek's famous cappuccino-colored, Mohair banquette sofa and a sleek bathroom.

Besides the furniture replicas, the display also features laminate-covered wood, Hotel Derek's own wallpapers and a plasma screen TV with DVD player that will show guests images of the hotel's other assets. The 4,500-pound display takes about 16 hours to assemble and will be trans-shipped to nine exhibitions in 2004. Hotel Derek's Traveling Hotel Room Display is a custom-designed exhibit built by Exhibitgroup/Giltspur in Dallas, TX.


Kmart Names P. Guyardo Chief Mktg. Officer

Paul Guyardo has joined Kmart Holding Corporation as Senior V.P., Chief Marketing Officer. He will be responsible for Marketing, Advertising, Promotions and External Communications. Guyardo joins Kmart after eight years at HSN, where he was Exec. V.P. of Television & Marketing.

Visual Marketing Co. Establishes Merchandising Excellence Award

Visual Marketing, a Chicago, IL-based retail merchandising company, has named Jess Farr, Products Manager of Castle Sales Co., the recipient of its new award recognizing retail merchandising excellence. Castle Sales Co. is a Green Bay, WI-based designer and manufacturer of xtreme sports gear including motorcycle and snowmobiling helmets and goggles. Established this year, the Visual Marketing Award for Retail Merchandising Excellence is presented to one of the firm's clients where the individual and company exhibit sound creative retail merchandising solutions and exemplify high business ethics, according to Rich Gausselin, Visual Marketing's V.P. of Marketing.

nParallel Names W. Kasica Dir., Brand Programs

nParallel, a brand communication, merchandising strategy and display company headquartered in Minneapolis, MN, has named William Kasica as Director of Brand Programs. He oversees all stages of design and implementation of projects for nParallel clients. Prior to this, Kasica was the Chief Marketing Officer at Miller Zell, Inc., an Atlanta-based designer of consumer-focused retail solutions.
