Southern Comfort Runs Big Easy Summer Promotion

Southern Comfort brings its "let the good times roll" attitude to consumers with its Big Easy Summer promotional campaign.

The campaign uses the vibrant artwork of Matt Rinard, a New Orleans artist, in p.o.s. materials featuring the season's tastiest cocktails-Southern Lemonade and Southern Hurricane.

Featured elements of the off-premise campaign include a New Orleans streetlight, case cards with recipe tear-pads featuring the Southern Lemonade, pennant streamers, and a bright summer guide that provides recipes and summer event dates. Southern Comfort, a whisky, fruit and spice-flavored liqueur, was founded in New Orleans by bartender M.W. Heron in 1874.


Nike Golf Conducts National CPR Tour

Nike Golf is bringing the ease and enjoyment of its CPR hybrids-Clubs for Prevention and Recovery-to golfers around the country through a mobile tour visiting on-course and off-course locations throughout the country through mid-September.

Three Nike Golf-CPR ambulances will make stops at golf courses, practice facilities and off-course golf specialty shops. At each stop, Nike Golf's CPR medics will introduce golfers to the full line of CPR woods, CPR iron-woods and the new CPR mixed set.

Golfers will have the opportunity to demo and purchase every club in the line. Nike Golf staff will be on hand to write CPR prescriptions that will remedy any ill conditions golfers have been experiencing on the golf course. Additionally, the entire line of Nike Golf equipment will be available during the demo experience.


Anheuser-Busch Introduces Bacardi Silver Watermelon

Anheuser-Busch's newest Bacardi Silver flavor has been launched, a premium flavored malt beverage that has the juicy taste of fresh watermelon. "Adults who enjoy Flavored Malt Beverages continue to look for what's new and hip when making a beverage choice, which is why we developed Bacardi Silver Watermelon," said Geri Hirsch, Brand Manager, High End Products, Anheuser-Busch. "Providing a new flavor like Bacardi Silver Watermelon, and combining it with delicious drink recipes, gives adults innovative, fun and refreshing beverage options."


Combination CompUSA/Good Guys Stores To Open In California

CompUSA announced the next steps in its retail strategy concerning Good Guys, a high-end home electronic chain acquired by the company in 2003. Plans include combination CompUSA/Good Guys stores in California by converting 14 Good Guys retail locations and 3 current CompUSA locations. These new stores are designed to meet the increasingly diverse buying needs of customers wanting more choice by offering them a mix of both CompUSA and Good Guys merchandise.

"Product and technology convergence is continually increasing and customers are looking for answers," said Larry Mondry, CompUSA CEO. "Our new combination unleashes the power of technology for our customers through a broader range of products, and unmatched expertise from our CompUSA and Good Guys' highly trained and technology-savvy staff."

Mondry added that in addition to the store-level changes, the CompUSA merchandising department has joined forces with the Good Guys buying and merchandising team. This newly formed department will provide the best selection of products available, capitalizing on the expertise and buying power of both teams.


Jason's Deli Completes Nation's Largest Anti-Trans Fat Project

After a painstaking five-year mission, every food item in all of Jason's Deli's 137 restaurants nationwide is completely free of partially hydrogenated oils. Jason's also supplies one million box lunches served each year to elementary and secondary school students. All items in those box lunches are now free of partially hydrogenated oils. The new Dietary Guidelines issued by the U.S. Government state that we should keep trans fat consumption "as low as possible."

In changing its entire menu and every product it serves, Jason's had to use its purchasing power to push its suppliers to change their ways. Jason's R&D department worked intensively on the project. Once it found or developed a product without partially hydrogenated oil, it was tried in Jason's 16 test delis for customer tasting and comments. In all, Jason's Deli converted 47 ingredients once made with partially hydrogenated oils, which go into making many of its 80 standard menu items.


Ford Motor Co. has appointed Steve Lyons as Group V.P., North America Marketing, Sales & Service. He will report to GregSmith, Ford's Exec. V.P. and Preisdent, the Americas. Lyons previously was President, Ford Division.


Oneida Ltd. has appointed of James Joseph to the new position of Exec. V.P., Worldwide Sales and Marketing. Joseph will be responsible for Oneida's Consumer, Foodservice and International business units. Joseph, who joined Oneida in 1988, has served as Sr. V.P. and General Manager of Oneida Foodservice for the past four years.


Outwater Plastics Relocates Corporate Headquarters

Outwater Plastics has relocated its corporate headquarters to Bogota, New Jersey, situated approximately five miles from New York City. The new, state-of-the-art 250,000+ square foot facility accommodates Outwater Plastics Industries' and Architectural Products by Outwater's sales and warehouse facilities as well as a new showroom, all under one roof. The new address is 24 River Road, Bogota, NJ 07603.


Display Systems Inc., a Maspeth, NY-based p.o.p. firm has changed its corporate name and structure to that of a holding company, The DSI Group. There will be two operating entities: DSIdisplay and DSIconnect, which will focus on p.o.p. media/av solutions.


Trion Industries' new ScanLock is an easy-to-use, inexpensive key lock system that secures most common scan hooks and even retrofits existing hooks in place. It is a low cost anti-theft solution and can be integrated into existing planograms, unlike other hook locks. It provides simple swing-aside access to items; no need to remove the lock to sell product. Placed far forward, it prevents the removal of any product, or it can be set to display 1-2 items unlocked for easy customer access, while the balance of stock is locked and held secure preventing mass theft and "sweeping." ScanLock relocks without a key in the tumbler. An optional security plate works with most metal and plastic backplate designs to provide additional theft deterrence in high-risk environments. Sal Cavallaro, CME, Chairman of the Trade Show Exhibitors Association’s Board of Directors, has announced the appointment of Stephen Schuldenfrei as President of TSEA. Cavallaro said, “TSEA’s Board of Directors believes that Steve will carry forward TSEA’s commitment to servicing the exhibition and event marketing community.” Schuldenfrei brings an extensive background both with trade shows and association management. He previously was Executive Director of the Society of Independent Show Organizers (SISO) and President of the Exposition Operations Society (EOS).


Mirror Show Management recently developed this new style of tensioned fabric inline exhibit for Ivoclar Vivadent with the objective of creating a dynamic new look in an in-line portable booth for the Company's varied lines of dental products. Bold graphic panels are suspended from cables and easily interchanged with different product groups. Products were more organized and easier to see by attendees walking past the booth. A Team Retained For Upcoming Marketing Campaigns

The A Team, a marketing and promotions agency headquartered in midtown Manhattan, has been retained by three new clients-The Food Emporium, Ricola USA and The Spice Hunter, for campaigns in 2005.

On behalf of the Food Emporium, The A Team will handle the introduction for its online grocery service. For Ricola USA, the agency will manage promotions for the 2005 cough/cold season. The A Team's Irvine, CA office recently won The Spice Hunter account, and will be handling the Company's retailer programs.
