Duracell Display Hook Snags Shoplifters

Duracell USA has become the first consumer products company to use a new, patented peg hook adapter that prevents shoppers from removing more than one product at a time, which takes aim at the shoplifting technique known as "sweeping." High value items can be placed on peg hooks without the danger that a shoplifter will pilfer dozens of packages with a simple sweep of the hand.

Thomson-Leeds Company of New York City, created the peg hook adapter and holds its patent. Duracell Brand Manager, Joe Ricci, commented: "We have been looking for something to prevent ‘sweeping’ for some time. The Thomson-Leeds patented peg hook adapter is being extremely well-received by both our field representative and retailers."

The peg hook adapter fits most OSHA safety hooks. There is also a patented one-way peg hook which is available in three sizes as a single piece of injection molded plastic. The adapter and peg hook are ideal for any product packaged for display on peg hooks.
