Clearly Canadian Introduces Super-Oxygenated Beverage
Clearly Canadian Beverage Corporation has introduced Clearly Canadian O+2 to the Canadian market, which has been scientifically formulated as a superior refreshment product for athletic and health-conscious consumers. Clearly Canadian O+2 is available in two flavor choices, Fruit-Citrus and Berry-Citrus, which are enhanced with up to 5 times the normal concentration of oxygen. "We're excited to present our new, innovative oxygen-enhanced beverage to Canadian consumers," said Douglas Mason, President of Clearly Canadian Beverage Corporation. "Clearly Canadian O+2 stands out in the water market by delivering a premium drink experience in a bold new package." The bottle shape was inspired from the high-tech, industrial design of oxygen tanks.
Lamisil Topical Antifungal Now Availale OTC
Novartis Consumers Health, has announced the availability of Lamisil Cream, a prescription-strength antifungal drug product sold over-the-counter (OTC) for the treatment of ahtlete's foot. Lamisil Cream is the only OTC medication that cures athlete's foot with just one week of treatment. All other OTC athlete's foot medications require four weeks of treatment. Lamisil is the first major treatment advance in the OTC athlete's foot category in 50 years. Lamisil Cream is formulated with prescription-strength terbinafine HCI, which kills the fungus so it won't come back. It is available in mass retailers, drug stores and supermarkets nationwide.
Canadian Club Sherry Cask Whisky Introduced
Hiram Walker, the inventor of Canadian blended whisky, has introduced Canadian Club Sherry Cask whisky, the only North American whisky finished in wooden casks that are suffused with the rich flavors of Spanish sherry. This smooth, unique whisky is double-matured in specially selected casks imported from the Jerez region of Spain. Created by Mike Booth, Hiram Walker's 4th generation Master Blender, Sherry Cask is aged for at least eight years in white oak barrels and then "finished" by aging again in sherry casks unil its aroma signals that it's time to bottle each batch. Sherry Cask joins the distinguished barrel blended Canadian Club line.
Grimmway Introduces Carrot Chips
Grimmway has introduced Carrot Chips, as a healthy alternative to salty and fried snacks. These ridged, potato-chip shaped carrots are ideally designed for dipping. "Carrot Chips will give retailers a unique and exciting addition to their value-added produce sections," said Greg Flood, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Grimmway Farms, Bakersfield, CA. "We're confident that this will become an extremely popular carrot cut because it's the perfect shape for dipping, and consumers can use it in place of `junk food' snacks. It's also designed to be highly appealing to retailers since it helps build profits through add-on dip sales."
SNK Debuts Neo Geo Pocket Color
SNK Corporation of America, San Jose, CA, is debuting its Neo Geo Pocket Color, a 16 bit portable gaming system available in six different colors. At least 10 games will be available for purchase when the system goes on sale directly from the Company's Web site in June. Neo Geo Pocket Color features a custom-designed TFT-format LCD with a palette of 4,096 colors, capable of displaying 146 colors simultaneously. The 45 x 48 millimeter game window, which measures 2.6 inches diagonally across, is easier to see from side angles and in both bright and dim light than other handheld gaming systems. Susan Barone, Vice President, SNK's COnsumer Division, said, "The recent success of Nintendo's Game Boy Color has reaffirmed the sheer magnitude of the portable gaming market in the U.S., and we believe there is room in the marketplace for more than one handheld system, especially one capable of displaying the amount of colors at such a high-resolution as the Neo Geo Pocket Color."
Caere Names V. Carpenter As Senior V.P. Of Marketing
Caere Corporation, a leading developer of software solutions for scanner, has named Valorie Cook Carpenter as Senior Vice President of Marketing. Carpenter brings extensive retail software and consumer marketing experience from her positions at Procter & Gamble, Broderbund Software and Claris/FileMaker, where she was most recently responsible for worldwide product management and marketing communications for the Apple Computer.
Universal Studios Names J. Jones Exec. VP, Creative & Marketing
Jill Jones has been appointed Executive Vice President, Creative and Marketing, Universal Studios Consumer Products Group. In this new expanded role, Jones assumes responsbility for the division's marketing department and solidifying the strategy for all Universal Studios licensing properties. She joined Universal in 1995 to build the creative department at Universal Studios Consumer Products and to develop The Lost World: Jurassic Park merchandise program.
Miller/Zell Acquires CDI Group
Launching its drive to create the first family of fully integrated store development agencies, Miller/Zell, Inc. has acquired CDI Group, a full service retail consulting and design firm. Miller/Zell, headquartered in Atlanta, provides turnkey store development services for clients in the retailing, automotive, hospitality, foodservice and financial services fields, including Wal-Mart, Rite Aid, Blockbuster Video, H&R Block, Exxon and Mobil Oil. New York-based CDI specializes in the development and implementation of design, merchandising and operational strategies for clients operating convenience stores, gasoline stations and supermarkets nationwide. CDI will retain its Manhattan offices and operate as a subsidiary directed by present management.
Schawk To Acquire Cactus Imaging Centres
Schawk, Inc., a Des Plaines, IL-based leading provider of digital imaging prepress services to the consumer products industry, has acquired Cactus Imaging Centres, Inc., of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Cactus produces high quality color imaging output directly from digital files. David A. Schawk, President and CEO of Schawk, Inc., said, "The addition of large format capabilities to Schawk's service offerings addresses our customers' growing demand for large format imaging solutions. Cactus has an excellent reputation and their clients will be pleased to know that J. Peter Wadsworth has agreed to continue as President of Cactus Imaging Centres, which will become an autonomous division of Schawk Canada."
Thomson-Leeds Appoints R. Alletto, Vice President
Thomson-Leeds Company, Inc., a leading point-of-purchase advertising and sales promotion agency, has appointed Roseanne Alletto as Vice President. She joined Thomson-Leeds in 1997 as a Senior Account Director. Alletto was previously with Display Systems, Inc. as its Director of Development and Planning.
