Amstel Light P.O.P. To Feature Monsieur Z

Amstel Light has signed renowned illustrator Monsieur Z to design its creative for point of sale materials in 2003.

Since bursting into the art scene in the late 90's Monsieur Z has regaled the art/advertising world with his unique combination of retro and modern sensibilities that has made him one of today's most sought after artists.

"Monsieur Z is a natural fit for the irreverent personality of the Amstel Light brand and our 2003 programs," said Dennis Peters, Amstel Light Associate Brand Manager. "His contemporary, upscale style will play a great part in our efforts to break through the POS clutter and provide retailers and consumers with visually creative and exciting materials."


Waypoint Bank Installs Interactive Kiosks At Branches

Waypoint Bank, Harrisburg, PA, is installing a nework of interactive kiosks across its bank branches located throughout Pennsylvnia and Maryland. Livewire International, York PA, has been contracted to install the touchscreen kiosks.

Unlike an ATM, which allows financial transactions, the new kiosks are intended to provide information to bank customers regarding services and accounts offered by the bank. Customers who are not sure which product is best for them will be guided through the process by answering simple questions. Detailed information and necessary forms can be printed on demand by the kiosk to allow customers to open accounts at the time it is most convenient to them.

Andrew Samuel, Exec. V.P. of Waypoint, said, "The interactive customer-driven dialog provided by the kiosk will help guide our customers to the product or account that best serves their needs. The kiosk will also promote our Internet Banking initiative by showing how easy and convenient Internet banking can be."


Roxio Promotes New Software Suite In-Store

Roxio, Inc., has launched an integrated marketing campaign to introduce its Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 software suite.

Roxio and ESPN The Magazine have partnered to conduct the "Save The Day" sweepstakes. The promotion offers consumers the chance to win a grand prize trip to any sports event in a major U.S. city of choice. First and Second prizes include a wireless notebook PC based on Intel Centrino mobile technology and Fujifilm FinePix 3800 digital cameras .

In-store promotions will reach consumers at leading retailers, such as CompUSA, BestBuy, Circuit City, Office Depot, and Staples. Consumers who purchase Roxio's Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 at participating retail stores will receive a free custom Roxio-branded CD/DVD wallet.

"The launch of Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 will be supported by various marketing promotions designed to build retail foot traffic and sales," said Scott Steinberg, V.P., Strategic Marketing at Roxio.


Paper Mate Displays Pendulum Pen

Paper Mate has introduced the Pendulum, a new ballpoint pen that adjusts to an individual's personal writing style.

Leighton Davies-Smith, Director of Writing Systems Development for Sanford, the makers of Paper Mate products, said, "A ballpoint pen is typically held at approximately 55 degrees to the paper, giving the writer a feeling of 'drag' as the pen moves across the paper. Pendulum pen's angled swivel tip results in a smoother writing experience."

"Pendulum embodies our goal to reinvent the Paper Mate brand, by providing a contemporary and fun writing product with excellent performance," said Paul Donahue, President, Sanford North America.

This counter diplay calls attention to the new swivel tip technology and lets consumers test the new pens.


CompUSA Launches Digital Living Program

CompUSA and Playa Vista, a new 1,100 acre community in Playa Vista, CA, have launched an innovative partnership. CompUSA has created California's first Digital Living Program to deliver accessible and easy-to-use technology for Playa Vista residents. The Digital Living Program features a high tech design center in the heart of the community staffed with a full-time CompUSA employee known as a Connectivity Concierge.

The technology design center will serve as a resource for residents looking for information on hardware, software, Internet access and connectivity, networking, home theater solutions, audio solutions, lighting control, bio-metric door locks and anything technology-related.

The technology design center will enable residents to leave their computers and technology products with the Connectivity Concierge, who will advise, install, and support residents on technology purchases. The Connectivity Concierge will also hold frequent seminars.

Brian Woods, V.P., Technical Services, CompUSA, said, "We are building a program that will serve as a model for programs CompUSA is rolling-out across the country."


SPCP Names C. Freiss As V.P., Creative

Christiane Friess has been promoted to V.P., Creative for Sony Pictures Consumer Products (SPCP). The announcement was made by Al Ovadia, Exec. V.P., Sony Pictures Consumer Products. Previously, Ms. Friess held the position of Executive Creative Director.

Ms. Friess will work with Sony Pictures Entertainment's Theatrical Marketing to create the graphic elements for SPCP's licensing programs.


Rexall Sundown Names S. Brenia As Senior Vice President of Marketing

Steven H. Brenia has been named Senior Vice President of Marketing, Rexall Sundown, Inc. Hewill be responsible for all marketing activities of the company's business units and brand groups.

Mr. Brenia most recently was head of marketing for Culver Specialty Brands, Alberto Culver Company, Inc. From 1993 to 2000, he was with Borden, Inc., where he served in senior marketing and strategic business development positions for several of the company's key brands. Earlier in his career, he had also held marketing positions of increasing responsibility with RJR Nabisco, Inc. and Heublein Company.


DNI Marketing Group Names J. Baranoski As National Accounts Manager The DNI Marketing Group, a St. Charles, IL, based in-store marketing company, has named Jim Baranoski National Accounts Manager. He was formerly with the Strive Group.


EMJAY Appoints T. Konas As CFO

EMJAY Display, Inc., Lancaster, PA, has appointed Ted Konas as Chief Financial Officer. The announcement was made by Mitchell Jureckson, EMJAY's President.


Symbol Technoliges Launches MK2000 Kiosk'

Symbol Technologies has introduced the Symbol MK2000, a kiosk capable of displaying interactive, full-color video and audio messages. The kiosk, which can be pedestal- or wall-mounted, features a 6.4-inch full-color display, integrated bar code scanner, 400 MHz processor, Microsoft CE.NET operating system, stereo speakers and optional touch screen. SPAR Group Acquires Impulse Merchandising Services

SPAR Group, Inc. has acquireD the business and certain assets of Impulse Merchandising Services, a division of kaBOOM! Entertainment Inc.

Impulse, based in Toronto, provides a full spectrum of merchandising services to the mass market, grocery and select specialty retail sectors. "The addition of the Impulse Merchandising Services business to the SPAR family expands our presence in the Canadian market and opens new opportunities for SPAR," said Bob Brown, SPAR Group's chairman and CEO.

Craig L. Rosenblum Joins CROSSMARK As VP of Business Development, Sales Support Services

CROSSMARK has announced the appointment of Craig Rosenblum as Vice President of Business Development. Rosenblum, a consumer-packaged goods (CPG) professional with more than 15 years of industry experience, is charged with helping manufacturers and retailers in the areas of integrated sales and support processes.

Prior to joining CROSSMARK, Craig served as VP of Business Development for the CPG consulting company, Milton Merl Associates. Rosenblum's previous experience also includes American Cyanamid, AVON Products, The Gillette Company, Luke Soules, Inc., and Mary Kay Cosmetics, Inc.
