Coors Promotion Targets Cash-Hungry Consumers

Coors Blast of Cash summer promotion, gives consumers a chance to become instant winners. Coors Brewing Company is including an ATM-style card with every Original Coors and Coors Light Blast of Cash package. To use, customers simply call the 800 number, enter the PIN number and instantly win cash, ranging from $3 to $200.

Bright colored POS materials turn on- and off-premise establishments into green money-making machines. Money trees, mobiles, danglers, price cards and dollar bill inflatables draw customers to Coors Light/Original Coors displays.

During the peak July fourth period, Coors quadruples ATM cash awards and replaces Blast of Cash POS with explosive red, white and blue POS, highlighted by life-size Ivana Trump stand-ups.


Timberland Launches Dinosaur Expedition Promotion Tieing Into "Lost World: Jurassic Park

As part of its association with "The Lost World: Jurassic Park," Timberland has launched a national consumer promotion, designed to echo the film’s sense of adventure and fascination with dinosaurs.

Consumers can enter to win by visiting select Timberland retailers and uniquely replying to the hypothetical situation: "You’ve been transported back in time to the Jurassic Period. What are the top 5 items on your Gotta-Have-It -To-Survive list?" The grand prize includes an authentic dig for dinosaur remains with some of the world’s leading paleontologists.

"Our involvement in the film is a natural fit,"said Greg Van Wormer, Senior Vice President of Timberland. "The movie is set in the rugged outdoors: that’s Timberland territory; and with The Lost World: Jurassic Park, we’re reaching our consumers in an exciting, high profile and relevant way."

Supporting the promotion, in-store Timberland boutiques feature Lost World point-of-sale materials.


Land O'Lakes Introduces Perfect Timings Meals

Land O’Lakes has introduced Perfect Timings: Real Meals In Minutes, which combine fresh, pre-cut vegetables, a sauce and pasta or rice.

For dinner on the table in about 20 minutes, all the cook has to do is prepare the pasta or rice and vegetables, saute the chicken, add the sauce and simmer.

Perfect Timings meals include Creamy Sun-Dried Tomato Chicken with Pasta, Savory Garlic Chicken with Rice Pilaf, Lemon Garlic Chicken with Pasta and Creamy Dijon Chicken with Rice Pilaf. Perfect Timings meals are so fresh, they are located in the refrigerated produce sections of supermarkets for a suggested retail price of $5.99.


Orville Redenbacher's 100% Popcorn Cakes Introduced

Hunt-Wesson has introduced Orville Redenbaher’s 100% Popcorn Cakes, available in regular and mini size cakes.

The new product line represents the first non-traditional popcorn category introduction for the Orville popcorn brand. Mini cake flavors include Butter, Caramel, Barbecue, Nacho and Peanut Caramel Crunch. Regular size flavors include White Cheddar, Butter and Caramel.

Support for the new product includes a heavy television campaign, in-store sampling, trade promotion, merchandising and a strong p.o.p.display program.


MGM Names L. Berman Exec. V.P. Consumer Products

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc., Santa Monica, CA, has named Linda Berman Executive Vice President for MGM Consumer Products, a division of the recently merged MGM Home Entertainment/Consumer Products Group.

Ms. Berman is a well-known retail marketing and creative consultant to major entertainment and consumer products companies. She will report directly to Richard Cohen, President of the group.


Kodak Names D. Palumbo Chief Mktg. Officer

Eastman Kodak Company, Rochester, NY, has named Daniel P. Palumbo to the newly-created position of Chief Marketing Officer and Vice President for its worldwide Consumer Imaging Business.

Mr. Palumbo will report to David P. Biehn, President, Consumer Imaging and Senior Vice President, Eastman Kodak Company. He will be responsible for brand management and global marketing strategy for Kodak’s many consumer products and brands.

He joins Kodak from Proctor & Gamble, where he most recently has been worldwide manager of the company’s Vicks brands.

Merchandising Inventives, Inc., a Lake Bluff, IL-based supplier of point-of-purchase display hardware and display systems has announced a new URL for its Web Site. The new web address is www.merchinv.com.


3M Commercial Graphics Announces New Web Site

3M Commercial Graphics Division announced a new Web Site, located at www.MMM.com/imagegraphics. The site features three closed doors at the home page, each of which opens to reveal three distinctly different sites - one geared to designers, another to graphics manufacturers and the third tailored to products and brand marketers.

"In addition to providing our audiences with useful and tailored information about the latest in graphic technology, the Web site demonstrates how 3M can help put brands in places designers and marketers may have never imagined," said Joe Spolidoro, marketing director, 3M Commercial Graphics Division.


Sheffield Launches Web Site

DSM Engineering Plastic Products/Sheffield Plastics, a supplier of polycarbonate sheets for point-of-purchase signage and display applications has established a web site at www.dsmna.com. Sheffield’s products include HYZOD polycarbonates and VIVAK, a co-polyester sheet.
