Nintendo Announces Marketing Campaign
Nintendo of America Inc. has announced an aggressive second-half marketing campaign for the Nintendo 64.
The $7 million marketing campaign has been planned for Star Fox 64 including a direct mail videotape shipped to nearly one million video game enthusiasts nationwide, a Star Fox 64-dedicated Web site, and point-of-purchase materials. Multi-million dollar dedicated media campaigns involving will also be implemented for key Nintendo 64 titles including Goldeneye 007, Banjo-Kazooie, Yoshi’s Island 64, and Major League Baseball featuring Ken Griffey, Jr.
In addition to the dedicated software campaigns, Nintendo is kicking off a multi-million-dollar promotional campaign with Taco Bell this fall; and continuing a series of rental promotions resulting from its continued partnership with Blockbuster Video.

Hasbro Launches Candy Line Based On Its Classic Toys & Games
Hasbro, Inc. has launched a new line of candy based on its classic toy and game properties, such as Mr. Potato Head, Monopoly and Barrel of Monkeys. The company also plans to launch a Prehistoric Fizz lollipop based on "The Lost World: Jurrasic Park".
Hasbro’s new candy items will become part of Cap Toys’ interactive' recently acquired Cap Toys from Russ Berrie. Hasbro’s candy line includes: Connect Four Candy Game and a mini Mr. Potato Head dispenser, both filled with Willy Wonka’s Candy Coated Tart `n Tinys; Monopoly Brand Bubble Gum Game with collectible stickers; and Game Chews with collectible packages featuring Clue, Sorry, Operation, Monopoly, Cootie and Scrabble; and Barrel of Monkeys Chewy Candy.
Buena Vista Pictures Names O. Aviv, Sr. VP Mktg. & Advtg.
Buena Vista Pictures Marketing has promoted Oren Aviv to the newly created position of Senior Vice President of Marketing and Creative Advertising and consolidated three separate creative groups under his leadership. He will report to John Cywinski, President of Marketing for Buena Vista Pictures Marketing.
Aviv began his association with Disney in 1991 as Vice President, Creative Film Services for Buena
Vista Pictures Marketing.
Labatt USA Appoints Mktg. Executives
Labatt USA, the specialty beer company headquartered in Darien, CT, has announced two marketing appointments: Judy Cunningham has been named Director, Marketing, Mexican brands, with responsibilities for the marketing of the Dos Equis and Tecate brands. Cunningham has been Director, Marketing, Canadian brands, overseeing the Labatt brands. David Van Wees now takes over that position, promoted to Director, Marketing, Canadian brands, from Brand Manager. Both Cunningham and Van Wees will report to Thomas Cardella, Vice President, Marketing.
Scholastic Productions Appoints P. Van Raalte, VP, Consumer Products
Scholastic Productions, Inc. has appointed Peter Van Raalte to the newly created position of Vice President of Consumer Products, announced Leslye Schaefer, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Consumer Products.
Van Raalte will oversee the strategic development, direction and implementation of all consumer product activities within the division including creating innovative and strategic licensing campaigns targeting SPI’s retail and licensing constituencies. Most recently, Van Raalte was Vice President of Licensing at Turner Home Entertainment.
Phoenix Display Appoints J. Paris, Exec. VP
Phoenix Display and Packaging Corp., headqaurtered in West Deptford, NJ, has appointed Janet Paris, Executive Vice President of Phoenix Permanent. Paris will be based in Scottsdale, AZ. Her responsibilities will include developing new accounts and managing existing accounts for the company in the southwestern region in the U.S. Prior to joining Phoenix Display, Paris served as Senior Vice President in the Sales Department of Henschel-Steinau, Inc. She also served as Chairman of the Board of the Point-Of-Purchase Advertising Institute.
Henschel-Steinau Appoints C. Chisena, Production Mgr.
C. Chisena, Production Mgr. "Chip" Chisena has joined Henschel-Steinau, Inc., as Production Manager. He will manage and oversee the company’s production and purchasing team. Chisena has been actively working in the P.O.P. display business for over twenty years, associated with major display manufacturers for most of his career.
