Pepsi And Fox Unite For "The Simpsons House Giveaway" Promo

Fox Broadcasting Company, Fox-Interactive, Pepsi-Cola Company and Kaufman and Broad Home Corporation have joined forces to create"“The Simpsons House Giveaway" promotion. The promotion offers fans of the Fox TV series the chance to win a brand new 2,200 square-foot, four bedroom replica of the home of America’s favorite animated family.

The promotion supports the release of Fox Interactive’s CD-ROM "The Simpsons: Virtual Springfield." Built by Kaufman and Broad from many of the specifications and floor plans originally used to create the CD-ROM experience, the one-of-a-kind home can be won by playing in Pepsi-Cola’s "The Simpsons House Giveaway," featured in stores nationwide this August on specially marked packages of Pepsi’s Mug Root Beer, Lipton Brisk Natural Lemon Flavored Iced Tea, Mandarin Orange Slice, Lemon Lime Slice and Josta.

"The Simpsons House Giveaway is comprised of a matching numbers game and a random drawing sweepstakes. In the matching numbers game, consumers match their lucky number located on official game pieces printed on specially marked 12-packs and 2-liter packages of Pepsi’s flavor products featured in the contest. The grand prize number will be flashed on the screen during The Simpsons season premiere episode in September. The grand prize winner will become the lucky homeowner of the replica "The Simpsons" house. In the random drawing contest, consumers may enter the sweepstakes by mailing in their official game piece for a chance to win one of the following prizes: 100 First Place prizes of a one-year supply of Mandarin Orange Slice; 500 Second Place prizes of Bart Simpson Skateboards; and 1,500 Third Place prizes of Fox Interactive’s "The Simpsons: Virtual Springfield" CD-ROM .

"The Simpsons House Giveaway" promotion is supported by an aggressive radio campaign and numerous creative point-of-purchase visual materials.


Colgate Total Wins FDA Approval

Colgate-Palmolive Co.announced that the FDA has approved Colgate Total Toothpaste as the first toothpaste approved for its ability to help prevent gingivitis, plaque and cavities - the most common dental problems faced today.

Introduced internationally in 1992, it is now used by consumers in 103 countries. Ian Cook, President, Colgate-U.S., said "Colgate Total represents an enormous opportunity for U.S. retailers because it will create a new standard for consumers.

It is the biggest U.S. new product introduction in Colgate’s history. Support plans include a TV and print ad campaign as well as sampling and couponing and special displays.


Robert Mondavi Coastal Wines Launches "Sip Back And Relax" Promotion

Robert Mondavi Coastal is conducting a summer promotion that invites customers to "Sip Back And Relax" with its wines from the California coast.

A special seaside-themed display features an actual Adirondack chair with the Robert Mondavi Coastal logo and colorful case cards. Customers can order the exclusive folding Adirondack chair through a mail-in offer attached to each bottle of Robert Mondavi Coastal.

In addition, Robert Mondavi Coastal has partnered with "Coastal Living" Magazine, a new Time/Warner publication dedicated to America’s coastal lifestyle. Customers will find an instant redeemable coupon for 50 cents off any "Coastal Living" issue on Robert Mondavi Coastal bottle neckers and tear-pads attached to the display. "Coastal Living" has also provided a free standing bin that holds its magazines to go along with this "Sip Back And Relax" Mondavi Coastal wine in-store display.


Lord & Berry Names New Dir. of Mktg

Grant Berry, President & CEO of Lord & Berry, has announced the addition of Carol S. Shainswit as Director of Marketing.

This newly created position which reports directly to Mr. Berry, was developed to maintain the growth the company has experienced since its inception in 1991. Ms. Shainswit has a prestigious marketing history in the cosmetics and jewelry industries, most recently as Marketing Director of TAG Heuer USA.


Bolle Sunglasses Names G. Demgen, Director of Sport Marketing

Bolle America has appointed Greg Demgen as Director of Sport Marketing.

Mr. Demgen began his Bolle career as an endorsed professional cyclist and had been serving as Field Service Manager of the Sports Marketing Division.


Golden Books Names "R. Collins, Exec. V.P.," Sales and Retail Mktg

Golden Books Family Entertainment announced that it has named Richard K. Collins, Executive Vice President, Sales and Retail Marketing, North America, Golden Books Children’s Publishing Group. Mr. Collins joins Golden Books from Unilever/Lipton, where he was Vice President, Strategic Customer Management.


Frankel Unveils News Digital P.O.P. System

Frankel & Company, a Chicago-based marketing and promotional services agency, has introduced its proprietary Digital Point-of-Purchase product. Digital POP will enable marketers to electronically create, control and deliver customized point-of-purchase messages in retail environments.

Digital POP has been in development for 18 months and is the first technology to be unveiled by Siren Technologies, Frankel’s new division formed to develop and apply new technologies for use in marketing. The new Digital POP enables marketers to integrate national marketing campaigns with local marketing initiatives, allowing them to reflect new promotions and pricing changes, localize content and display messages in different languages. Digital POP uses computers, proprietary software, state-of-the-art flat panel displays and electronic distribution via telephone lines. Bud Frankel, Founder, CEO of Frankel & Co., said.

Modernistic, St. Paul, MN, has named Keith Wilson as President and COO. Previously he was an international sales and marketing operations Manager for 3M Corporation.

Modernistic is a screenprinter of point of purchase products and fleet graphics.
