Southwestern Bell Kiosk Offers Telephone Products To Grocery Shoppers

Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. has entered into an agreement with Dillons Food Stores in Kansas, that enables the stores to carry telecommunications products and services at kiosks.

The six-foot-square Southwestern Bell Express Kiosks, staffed by Southwestern Bell employees, carry products and services for the home telephone (Caller ID, Voice Dial and other Easy Options) and for life on the go (cellular phones and pagers).

In recent years, Dillon’s has developed several other successful categories in response to busy shoppers’ habits and need for convenience. These include the Chinese Kitchen, video rental, dry cleaning, faxing and money order services.

According to Dan Bird, Director of Meat, Seafood, General Merchandise and Video Departments for Dillon’s, "The Southwestern Bell Express kiosks offer another option for shoppers on the go who rely on their local supermarket to provide one-stop shopping in a high-service environment".


Polaroid Introduces PolaPulse Flashlight

Polaroid Corporation has introduced the PolaPulse Light, a compact, disposable flashlight. The PolaPulse Light features Polaroid’s patented ultra-thin battery which has an average shelf-life of five years. The molded plastic housing and sleek design make the PolaPulse Light extremely durable and portable.

New GE Profile Refrigerator Features Culligan Water Filtration System

GE Appliances has entered into a co-branding effort with water filtration giant Culligan.

GE has introduced the new GE Profile Performance Refrigerator, with a Culligan water filtration system, which satisfies consumers’ increasing demand for cleaner, better tasting water.


Ricola Introduces Natural Herbal Throat Syrup

Ricola is introducing two flavors of throat syrup; Natural Herbs and Natural Cherry & Herbs. Ricola’s traditional herbal blends combined with menthol, make Ricola’s new Throat Syrups a pleasant tasting, natural alternative for sore throat relief.

These liquid oral analgesics are a natural line extension to Ricola’s natural herbal cough and throat drop line. Both Natural Herbs and Natural Cherry & Herbs are available in 4 oz. recyclable plastic bottles. Introductory TV advertising and display support is scheduled for the fall and winter season.


Budget Promotes M. Sotir To Sr. VP, Worldwide Mktg.

Budget Rent A Car Corporation has promoted Mark Sotir to Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing and Reservation Operations, responsible for developing worldwide brand, marketing and pricing strategy as well as market segmentation and worldwide reservation operations.

Sotir joined Budget two years ago from Coca-Cola.


Saban Entertainment Promotes Execs.

Saban Entertainment, Inc., Los Angeles, announced the promotion of several executives as part of its ongoing plan to expand its marketing and promotional efforts.

George Leon has been promoted to Vice President, Promotions and Jan Diedrichsen to Manager, Promotions. Mr. Leon Oversees the development of Saban’s consumer targeted promotional opportunities for the company’s Saban and Fox Kids properties Mr. Diedrichsen is responsible for developing promotional premiums and overseeing creative elements for P.O.P. materials.

It was also announced that Bruce Bridges has been promoted to Director of Marketing, Production and Special Events and Rosslyn Forrester has been promoted to Director, Domestic Marketing.


Sunglass Hut Names W. Betts, Director, Visual Presentation

Sunglass Hut International, Coral Gables, FL, announced that William Betts, Jr. has been appointed to the position of Director, Visual Presentation. He will play a key role in integrating the company’s product presentation and store design strategy with its merchandising and advertising programs.

Mr. Betts was previously Director of corporate merchandising and Store Development for Coach
