Disney Announces Interactive DisneyQuest

The Walt Disney Co. has announced plans for DisneyQuest, a new concept in interactive entertainment. DisneyQuest’s worldwide launch of its 100,000-square-foot facility will be in Orlando, FL at Walt Disney World resort in the summer of 1998. Future sites will open in other major domestic and international destinations.

According to Art Levitt, President of the company’s newly launched subsidiary, Disney Regional Entertainment, "Within a two to three hour visit, guests can embark on adventures that let them actually `enter the story’ and become a part of it. DisneyQuest showcases many of Disney’s beloved characters and places and presents them in a bold new way using advanced technology to turn fantasy into reality."

Visitors can enjoy food and beverages from The Wired Wonderland Cafe, featuring indulgent desserts, drinks and a proprietary Internet-based attraction, and Food Quest, which offers a quick gourmet fix of fresh sandwiches, salads, pizza and fun foods operated by The Cheesecake Factory through a new Express concept.


L’Oreal Plenitude’s Future Debuts At Mass

L’Oreal Plenitude has introduced Future as the only mass moisturizer with 100% pure vitamin E in a unique delivery system (a patented micro-sphere system). According to L’Oreal, Future goes beyond just moisturizing by adding pure Vitamin E antioxidant benefits to help protect the "future" of skin.

L’Oreal Plenitude Future is being introduced in chain drug, food and mass market retailers nationwide. The attractive 4 ounce pump dispenser and stylized counter displays communicate a premium moisturizer.

Carol Hamilton, Senior Vice President of Marketing for L’Oreal said, "We plan to build awareness and trial of Future through an aggressive support effort that includes a $20 million TV and print advertising campaign, innovative and educational launch displays, FSI’s and a comprehensive national sampling."


Universal Studios Names C. Katz, Sr. V.P., Mktg.

Universal Studios Home Video has named Charles Katz as Senior Vice President, Marketing, it was announced by Andrew M. Kairey, Executive Vice President. Mr. Katz joins the home video division form MCA Records where he served most recently as Vice President, Strategic Marketing and was responsible for managing advertising soundtrack marketing, third-party promotional tie-ins, cross divisional marketing opportunities and new media for MCA records and its affiliated labels.

In his new position, Mr. Katz will be responsible for overseeing the marketing and positioning of all Universal Studios Home Video product, including the design, execution, implementation and coordination of marketing strategies as well as overseeing and managing advertising, merchandising and third-party promotional tie-ins.


Gruen Promoted At Warner Bros.Consumer Products

Rob Gruen has been promoted to Executive Vice President, Worldwide Marketing and Retail Business Development at Warner Bros. Consumer Products, according to an announcement by George Jones, President, Worldwide Licensing. Mr. Gruen served previously as Senior Vice President.


Radisson Hotels Names Two Mktg. Execs.

Radisson Hotels Worldwide announced the promotion of two key executives in the sales and marketing areas.

Mauren O’Hanlon has been promoted to Executive Vice President of Marketing and Sales. She takes the position previously held by Brian Stage who has been named President and COO. Kathy Hollenhorst has been promoted to Vice President of Marketing, taking that position held by O’Hanlon.


Nikon Appoints New Nat’l. Mktg. Mgr.

Nikon Inc., Melville, NY, has appointed Nancy Carr as the National Marketing Manager for Nikon’s electronic imaging department.

She will be responsible for marketing the full line of Nikon’s award-winning digital cameras and scanners. She will work closely with the National Sales Manager to expand Nikon’s distribution channels as well as serving as spokesperson for Nikon’s electronic imaging products. Ms. Carr’s background includes more than 12 years of marketing experience, most recently with Apple Computer Inc.


Newood Displays Establishes Web Site

Newood Display Fixture Mfg., Co., a Eugene, OR-based store fixture and p.o.p. display firm has established a web site at www.newood.com. The site features Newood’s custom displays and vendor shops, as well as its stock fixtures.
