Sega Launching Saturn Net Link

Sega of America has announced plans to introduce a low-cost videogame console TV Web device called the Sega Saturn Net Link.

Sega Saturn Net Link combines two consumer entertainment products in one; an advanced 32-bit CD-based videogame systems offering more than 150 interactive entertainment titles, and a modem providing full Internet functionality for email Web surfing and ultimately networked gaming.

Sega Saturn Net Link will be available nationwide on October 31 for a suggested retail price of $199.99. That price includes a 28.8 kbps speed modem cartridge that plugs into the Sega Saturn, a phone cord and a CD containing the Web browser and 3D city interface.

A bundled package will also be available (SRP $449.99) combining the Sega Saturn, the modem/browser package, a custom Sega Saturn keyboard and the hit arcade game Sega Rally Championship.


Revlon Introduces Cherish

Revlon is introducing Cherish, its latest fragrance, with the advertising tagline, "Cherish life, yourself and every warm moment," emphasizing the 90’s trend toward a simpler, more traditional way of life.

The collection includes Cherish Body Wash/Shower Gel, Cherish Body Lotion and Cherish Cologne Spray.

Cherish is packaged in a simple heart shaped bottle for the cologne and traditional tubes for the bath and body products.


Sprint Store Opens At RadioShack

Sprint and RadioShack, a division of Tandy Corp., have joined forces to create a “store-within-a-store” that will allow consumers to purchase a full range of Sprint-branded telecommunications services and products through approximately 6,800 RadioShack stores and dealers nationwide.

Sprint and RadioShack will offer one-stop telephone shopping within RadioShack stores. Customers will have access to a full service communications information center that will offer Sprint Spectrum personal communications services (PCS), Sprint long distance, local and wireless phone service, Internet access and paging, as well as Spree prepaid phone cards and phone sets. RadioShack will also be the exclusive retailer of Sprint-branded “residential” telephones.

The joint marketing and co-branding strategy will be supported by a multimillion dollar advertising campaign to be launched in the third quarter of 1997.


Visual Marketing Announces Passing of Patrick Joyce

Patrick H. Joyce, Director of Merchandising for Visual Marketing, Inc., Chicago, IL, has passed away, it was announced by Marion D. Cloud, Chairman and CEO of Visual Marketing.

Mr. Joyce’s first venture into the point of sale field came in the ‘60’s when he went to work for DCI in Milwaukee. In 1980 he formed Patrick H. Joyce and Associates. In 1990, he sold his business to IDL.

He joined Visual Marketing, Inc. in 1989 where he served as Director of Merchandising until his death.


Pearlson Announces Website

Pearlson Development Corp., a Miami, FL-based supplier of interactive kiosks for point-of-purchase, trade show and promotional applications has established a website at http://pearlson.com. The site describes Pearlson’s series of standard modular designs which may be customized for different applications.
