Sears Announces Joint Promotion With Michael Jordan Golf Co.

Sears, Roebuck and Co., has announced the signing of a long-term agreement with the Michael Jordan Golf Company for in-store promotions and marketing tie-ins.

The first promotion, the Sears Michael Jordan Golf Skills Challenge Sweepstakes, allowed 240 lucky Chicagoland youths to compete for the chance to meet and play golf with Michael Jordan.

The next marketing tie-in will roll out November 20-23 for customer Appreciation Days. Sears customers will have the opportunity to enter a contest to win a trip for four to Lake Tahoe, Nevada, meet with Michael Jordan and join him on the practice tee as he warms up for one of his rounds of golf during the 1997 Isuzu Celebrity Golf Championship.


Vulcan Appoints J. Whitley As General Manager

Joe Whitley has been appointed VP & General Manager of Vulcan Industries, a point-of-purchase display manufacturer based in Moody, Alabama.

Whitley succeeded Harry Purnell Jr., who retired after more than 30 years of service, 25 of them as General Manager, Vulcan Industries.


Naki Introduces Wirless Controls For Game Systems

Naki International, Pacoima, CA, has introduced new advanced wireless controllers for the Sony Playstation and Sega Saturn game systems.

The controllers provide the speed and accuracy of the original equipment counterparts, but without restricting the player with annoying wires. The units have a range of 35 feet.


Spacetec Introduces SpaceOrb 3D PC Game Controller

Spacetec IMC Corporation, Lowell, MA, recently introduced its SpaceOrb 360 3D PC game controller, an innovative hand-held controller for 3D PC action games.

The first controller to provide simultaneous, multi-axis 360 degree control in any and every direction, the SpaceOrb 360 lets gamers take full advantage of the latest 3D game technology. Movement is no longer limited to forward and backward or side to side. Hiram Walker Announces Executive Appointments

Hiram Walker, Southfield, MI, has announced the appointment of Charles F. Metzger as Brand Director-Scotch Whiskies. Metzger was previously Miller Lite Brand Manager at the Miller Brewing Company.

Barry Younkie has been appointed Senior Brand Manager, Makers Mark. He had been International Marketing Manager for Makers Mark.

Terry Shields has joined Hiram Walker as Brand Manager for C.C. Classic, C.C. Citrus, Tullamore Dew, Rich & Rare and Walkers Deluxe. He previously was with Allied Domecq.
