Snapple Sweet Tea Introduced
Snapple Beverage Corp. is introducing a traditional favorite in the South, Snapple Sweet Tea. Specially formulated with a distinctly Southern feel, Sweet Tea is all-natural and features a lighter-brewed tea flavor. With a mild, sweet "home-style taste,"Sweet Tea is made with a blend of cane sugar and contains no lemon. "Retailers and consumers will appreciate this ready-to-drink version of the South's favored style of ice tea, especially since it comes from a brand that is already a household name," said Michael Sands, Vice President of Marketing.
According to the company, super-sweet teas are a hot trend, with sales up 48% and sales velocity building by 14%. The Snapple Sweet Tea launch is being supported by POS, including static cling and low-tac decals.
Packard Bell NEC And Visioneer Team For Affordable Computer And Scanning Solution
Visioneer, Inc. and Packard Bell NEC are teaming up to offer a $50 rebate when customers purchase any Packard Bell computer and monitor, or NEC Ready computer and qualifying NEC monitor along with any Visioneer color scanner. Products and details on the promotion are available in the approximately 8,000 retail outlets that carry Packard Bell NEC and Visioneer products as well as on each company's Web site.
"Customers are looking for the best computer and scanner integrated into a single easy-to-use solution at a very attractive price," said Murray Dennis, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Visioneer.
According to Jack Yovanovich, Director of Product Marketing, Packard Bell NEC Consumer Division, "The capabilities of our multimedia computers are further enhanced by the addition of a high-quality scanner which allows users to incorporate digital images into their applications."
Seagram Appoints J. Schleifer To Mktg. Dir., ABSOLUT VODKA
Seagram Americas has appointed James Schleifer to Marketing Director for ABSOLUT VODKA. Schleifer will be responsible for the development and execution of strategic brand initiatives across the U.S. During his 20 year tenure at Seagram Americas, Schliefer has served in a variety of regional and national roles. Most recently, he was the Marketing and Communications Manager for the Atlantic/Pacific region.
GNC Names G. Horn COO & EVP Mktg.
Greg Horn has been named Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of Marketing and Business Development of General Nutrition Companies, Inc. (GNC), Pittsburgh, PA. Horn had been GNC's Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing.
According to William E. Watts, President and CEO Of GNC, "Greg has been instrumental in the development of GNC's highly effective advertising program as well as new retail formats like GNC Live Well and Nature's Northwest. In his new role, Greg will continue to drive our marketing program while focusing on new distribution channels that leverage our vertical integration, which gives GNC the lowest cost production capability in the supplement industry."
Shapes Unlimited Moves To Larger Facility
Shapes Unlimited, Inc. has moved into its new, custom-designed 40,000 square-foot corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility located in Little Chute, WI. The company specializes in fabricating trade show display components and point-of-purchase displays.
Weyerhaeuser And Wilton Connor Pkg. Form Joint Venture
Weyerhaeuser Company, Federal Way, WA, and Wilton Connor Packaging Inc., Charlotte, NC, have formed a joint venture to expand the capabilities of both companies. Said Jim Keller, Vice President and General Manager, Weyerhaeuser Containerboard Packaging and Recycling, "For the last nine years, Wilton Connor Packaging Inc. has supplied customers with promotional packaging for retail display. Weyerhaeuser hopes to provide the resources to grow the joint venture company to meet customers' expanding needs." According to Wilton Connor, President, Wilton Connor Packaging Inc., "Our focus on reducing the number of steps in our customers' supply chain offers customers the opportunity to outsource time-consuming promotional project management tasks. Our customers experience reduced cycle times and less material obsolescence in their promotional activities."
