Philips/Magnavox WebTV Debuts At Retail

Philips Consumer Electronics Company (PCEC),Knoxville, TN, has introduced Philips Magnavox WebTV, providing a reliable and easy way to access the Internet through any television receiver and standard telephone line.

Priced at $329.95, the Philips Magnavox WebTV is the user-friendly affordable option for consumers who want accessibility to the Internet without investing in a home computer.

"Based on research, which shows that there are 40 million households waiting for the Philips Magnavox Internet TV Terminal, and an overwhelmingly positive response from retailers, there is every indication that the new Philips Magnavox Internet TV Terminal will be a popular consumer electronics product during the holiday season," said Ed Volkwein, PCEC Senior Vice President and General Manager of Marketing and Sales.

PCEC entered into a licensing agreement with WebTV Networks Inc. to bring Internet access to the American television consumer through the use of Philips Magnavox Internet TV Terminal and the WebTV, a subscription-based on-line service. The WebTV Network service is $19.95 a month for unlimited Internet services.


Guinness Vans Demonstrate Quality Draught System

Guinness Import Company (GIC) has launched a fleet of Guinness vans specially designed to demonstrate the benefits of a quality draught system to bar and tavern owners nationwide.

Each van is equipped with a bar containing two kegs on a mixed gas, direct-draught system. The vans will feature Guinness on tap as well as a complementary brand in the GIC portfolio of premium imported beers.

"As our program has proved, perfect pints ensure repeat orders and customer loyalty, which translates to higher sales volume and increased profits for retailers," according to Greg Carr, National Quality Director, Guinness Import Company.


CBS/Fox Video Names L. Poskanzer, Marketing Director For NHL Video

Lee Poskanzer has been named Director of Sports Marketing/NHL Video for CBS/Fox, according to an announcement by Peter French, Vice President of Marketing: Sports and Fitness. Mr. Poskanzer will be responsible for managing the marketing activities for NHL Video and for obtaining sponsors and cross-promotional partners for titles under the label.

Mr. Poskanzer was most recently a Product Manager at PolyGram Video.


Coors Brewing Names L. Benders, V.P., New Products

Coors Brewing Company, Golden, CO, has named Larry Benders, Vice President of New Products. At Coors, he assumes responsibility for all facets of new product development and marketing. He reports to Bill Weintraub, Senior Vice President, Marketing.

He comes to Coors from Nabisco, where he was Managing Director for Hot Cereals and Integrated Marketing.


Sony Signatures Names R. Estrata, Creative Services Director

Roger A. Estrada has been named Director of Creative Service, it was announced by Kimberly LaPadula-Scardino, Senior Vice President of worldwide licensing and merchandising for Sony Signatures Licensing. Mr. Estrada is responsible for designing and executing creative campaigns for the line of theatrical and television properties.

Concord Litho Appoints W. Kujawa To V.P., P.O.S. Marketing

Concord Litho Company, Inc., Concord, NH, announced that Mr. William C. Kujawa of Marietta, GA has been appointed to the position of Vice President, Point of Sales Marketing. For the past 4 years, Mr. Kujawa has been serving as P.O.P. Marketing Manager, servicing the temporary display market nationwide.
