Boston Beer Introduces HardCore Black Cider

The HardCore Cider Company, a division of The Boston Beer Company, has introduced HardCore Black Cider. HardCore Black Cider has a rich flavor derived from a select blend of apples and special oak aging that creates a mellow, rounded character without excessive sweetness. The HardCore Cider Company is the first to have mastered the intricate brewing process that goes into the making of black cider.

According to the company, there is a growing thirst for hard cider among craft beer drinkers. Cider is the fastest growing beverage category, increasing by 32% over the past year.


KRUPS Enters Oral Care With 'Biocare' Brand

KRUPS North America, Inc. has introduced "BioCare" oral care products, a new series of state-of-the-art cordless dental care products, representing KRUPS foray into the fast growth of oral care category.

The KRUPS "BioCare" product series includes: BioCare System, a combination cordless water jet and plaque remover; BioCare Plus, a cordless plaque remover with a three minute automatic shut-off; and BioCare, a convenient cordless plaque remover.

"We're very excited about our new BioCare products," said John Nicholas, Vice President of Marketing for KRUPS North America, Inc. "We are providing retailers and consumers with an innovative product series that has been missing in home dental care, and aggressively extending our brand beyond housewares to ensure continued growth and leadership."

All BioCare products feature an exclusive Anatomically Designed Brush Head which combines the longest bristles with the most compact brush head on the market, according to the Company. The BioCare line is proven to outperform manual brushing in removing plaque and minimizing gum inflammation.


Nestle Treasures Introduced

Nestle has created Nestle Treasures, specifically tailored to women consumers who want chocolate for an everyday treat. The chocolates were developed based on a recent national survey from U.S. Research Company which asked men and women, "How do you treat yourself during a hectic work day?" Of those people who said they would eat a piece of chocolate as a treat, 77% were women compared to a 23% response from men.

These bite-size individually wrapped chocolates come in three flavors: Nestle Classic Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Miniatures, Nestle Crunch and Nestle Classic Milk Chocolate With Butterfinger Pieces. Nestle Treasures are currently available in grocery stores, drug and mass merchandisers, club and convenience stores.


Spalding Introduces Top-Flite Bi-Metal Golf Ball

Top-Flite, a division of Spalding Sports Worldwide, has introduced the Top-Flite Bi-Metal golf ball, which sets a new standard in the premium distance category by utilizing Metal Matrix Distance Technology, combining a Titanium linked cover for added distance with a Tungsten enhanced core for additional distance and greater feel. The Top-Flite Bi-Metal golf ball is a five year culmination of extensive research experimenting with different materials. This results in the development of a golf ball unlike any other metal golf ball in the market today, according to the Company.

The Top-Flite Bi-Metal golf ball will be supported by a multi-level marketing campaign including extensive sampling and an in-store merchandising program featuring displays, counter cards and consumer brochures.


Sequoia Assoc. Acquires Bemiss-Jason Corp.

Bemiss-Jason Corporation, a leading manufacturer of specialty educational, decorative and medical paper disposables, has been acquired by Sequoia Associates LLC, a private investment firm in Menlo Park, CA, for approximately $33 million. According to John M. Lillie, Principal of Seqouia, Bemiss-Jason Corporation's headquarters will remain in Newark, CA. Gordon T. Case, current President of Bemiss-Jason, will serve as President and Chief Executive Officer of the new company, and Lillie will become its Chairman.


Harbor Industries Becomes ISO 9001 Certified

Harbor Industries, Inc. recently received official notification of its successful completion of the ISO 9001 certification process. Harbor, which has three plants in Michigan (Grand Haven, Charlevoix and Traverse City), is one of the first major point-of-purchase manufacturers to have achieved this certification. ISO 9001 is an internationally recognized standard for quality systems and the most comprehensive of three possible standards (9001, 9002 and 9003).
