Disney Supports "Toy Story" Video Release With Massive P.O.P. & Promotion Campaign

Disney’s biggest video promotion ever will launch the home video release of Toy Story with promotional partners including Burger King, General Mills, Oral-B, Energizer and Kodak Film.

Burger King is tieing in to the promotion by distributing millions of Toy Story premiums in Kids’ Club meals backed by a multimillion dollar TV ad campaign. Disney is also offering a $5 mail-in refund when consumers purchase Toy Story and another video. General Mills is offering a $5 mail-in refund when consumers purchase any two General Mills cereals and any one Betty Crocker Dessert, Bisquick, Gold Medal Flour or Betty Crocker Potato Buds plus Toy Story. A $5 mail-in refund is available from Oral-B when consumers purchase three Oral-B products plus Toy Story. When consumers purchase any four packages of Energizer batteries plus Toy Story they are eligible for a $5 mail-in refund from Energizer. Consumers can also save up to $5 instantly on Toy Story when they buy any one of the specially marked Kodak Gold film boxes advertised on point-of-sale displays.

Point-of-sale materials being used to support the launch of Toy Story on home video include life size standee displays; 24-piece, 48-piece and 96-piece video displays; shelf talkers; counter cards; posters and buttons.


Pepsi-Cola Names A. Brown To V.P. of Food Stores

Pepsi-Cola Co., Somers, N,Y has named Arthur S. Brown Vice President of Food Stores, a newly created position.

Mr. Brown will be responsible for driving company efforts in food store sales, category management initiatives and Efficient Consumer Response (ECR) strategies.

Prior to rejoining Pepsi, Mr. Brown was Vice President of Sales and Customer Business Centers at James River Corp. In the mid-eighties, Mr. Brown held several positions at Pepsi, supporting fountain beverage selling efforts.


La-Z Boy Names M. W. Wagner As Retail Ad Mgr.

La-Z-Boy Inc., Monroe, MI, has named Mark W. Wagner as Retail Advertising Manager. In this newly created position, Mr. Wagner is responsible for developing and implementing retail support materials and programs for the company’s dealers to promote the La-Z-Boy brand at the local level. He reports to Kevin R. Wixted, Director of Advertising and Public Relations.

Mr. Wagner has more than 11 years of marketing experience, most recently as a Territory Manager for Multi-Ad Service, Inc.


Marvel Entertainment Names M. Dresner, Exec. V.P.

Marvel Entertainment Group Inc., New York City, has named Michael Dresner to the newly created position of Executive V.P., Corporate Development.

Mr. Dresner will oversee the development of a cohesive branding message through the company’s expansion into Super Hero themed restaurants, theme parks, touring live-action shows and other media properties. His appointment emphasizes Marvel’s strategy to deliver its characters - such as Spider Man, the X-Men, and The Incredible Hulk, to mass audiences via new, fresh projects.

Mr. Dresner was previously with the NBA where he served as Vice President, International Television.


Royal Crown Promotes J. Verrett To Marketing Director

Royal Crown Company, Inc.,Ft. Lauderdale, FL, has promoted Jimmy Verrett, Marketing Manger for Brand RC, to Director, Marketing. Mr. Verrett will continue to focus on the core cola products and food channel marketing, a change intended to bring greater integration of the brands to channel specific marketing.


National Graphics Names E. Lawrence As New CEO

National Graphics, Inc., Brookfield, WI, has named Ernest R. Lawrence, as Chief Executive Officer. National Graphics holds the patent for Extreme Vision, a process that allows motion to be incorporated into the printed page. Mr. Lawrence brings 15 years of successful CEO/COO experience to National Graphics, serving most recently as president, CEO of New Century Education Corp.
