Thomson-Leeds Is First POP Firm To Win 500th OMA

Thomson-Leeds, a New York City-based point-of-purchase display firm, announced that it won 14 1995 Outstanding Merchandising Achievement Awards (OMAs), from POPAI, bringing the company's grand total to 500 OMA awards in the past 30 years.

Doug Leeds, President of Thomson-Leeds, said, "Being the first company ever to hit the 500 mark is truly very exciting for us."


Anheuser-Busch Launches WebSite For Budweiser

Anheuser-Busch, Inc., has established an internet site, located at http://budweiser.com.

"Budweiser has made a significant commitment to the interactive, on-line world," said August Busch IV, Vice President Brand Management for Anheuser-Busch. Bud On-Line offers its onw Real Audio radio station, KBUD; it features a "Competition" section which enables users to see and hear a series of interactive pictures from Budweiser racing teams via the exclusive "Cockpit Cam"; "The Pad" provides a chance to join the three famous Budweiser Frogs, and offers a Virtual Reality Bar with billiards/darts rules and tips and a chat room. There is a 'virtual plant tour'and an opportunity to order Budweiser merchandise. The site also features VINNI, the first Virtual Interactive Network Navigation Interface, which provides a three-dimensional tour of the site.

The website was created for Budweiser by On Ramp, Inc., the New York City website design firm founded by Adam Curry, the former MTV VJ.


Gage In-Store Opens East Coast Office

Gage In-Store Marketing, division of Gage Marketing Group, Minneapolis, has opened an East Coast Office located at 195 Church Street in New Haven, CT. John King has been named Senior Vice President, Account Management, to head the new office. Mr. King was previously Senior VP with HMG Worldwide, New York City.

Gage also announced that it has been named agency of record for Motorola's Paging Products division, Boynton Beach, FL, responsible for developing pre-pack displays and counter merchandisers.


Vaseline Intensive Care Moisturing Body Wash To Debut

Chesebrough-Ponds has announced plans to support the introduction of its new Vaseline Intensive Care Moisturizing Body Wash with a $35 million advertising and promotion campaign. The campaign will include FSIs and aggressive onŠpack, in-store and direct-to-consumer sampling.

Kim Doyle, Skin Care Category Director at Vaseline said, "We created Vaseline Intensive Care Moisturizing Body Wash not only to effectively cleanse skin, without the drying effects that are associated with traditional soap, but also to help improve the quality of skin and maintain a healthy appearance."


Lancaster Group Names M. Loomis VP Mktg

Lancaster Group Worldwide, New York Cithy, has appointed Mark Loomis as Vice President of Marketing and Sales Coordination for the Americas. Mr. Loomis was formerly Vice President of U.S. Marketing at Elizabeth Arden.

Lancaster's brands include Chopard, Davidoff, Jil Sander, JOOP!, Lancaster and Monteil Paris.


Barton Inc. Appts. E. Gualtieri, VP Mktg

Barton Inc., Chicago, IL, has appointed Edwin Gualtieri as Vice President Marketing. For the past 12 years, he held varios marketing and management positions with Heublein.

Barton Brands recently acquired 37 brands from United Distillers. Its spirits lines include Glenmore, Gleischmann, Kentucky Tavern Bourbon and diAmore Liqueurs.
