CREATIVE POPAI AWARD WINNERS 2000, April/May 2000


Learning Company/Staples Spinner. The display was designed to be a freestanding unit replacing multiple counter displays. The objective was to provide a bright, easy to recognize unit that would increase sales in the Staples CD Video area. The display was constructed with wire and metal tubing and painted with a bright in-store color for Staples, powder coated for durable impact resistant surface and silk-screened for a professional finish. Finlandia Martini Glasses. Brown-Forman Corporation wanted displays to increase sales by creating a new consumer awareness of the brand as a mixer for martinis. Both displays were constructed from PVC, vacuum-formed clear PETG and white styrene with screen printed artwork and special automotive class paint. Created by Heritage Sign & Display, 344 Industrial Drive, Nesquehoning, PA 18240. BRONZE AWARD.
Carhart Denim Modular Display. Carhart used this modular pallet display to promote its Denim. Each modular Bin is wire reinforced to accommodate the weight of the product; over 200 lbs. They display can be used as a ½ Pallet (8 bins), or as a full pallet (16 bins). Graphic panels can be interchanged. The header is pre-mounted. Coca-Cola Powerglide. The objective was to provide a new display rack for secondary placement, to efficiently display the 2-liter sized bottle in grocery and convenience store channels. The unit was designed to increase in-store brand awareness through the product delivery system. Created by RTC Industries, Inc., 2800 Golf Road, Rolling Meadows, IL 60008. SILVER AWARD.
Viking Collateral (Banner, Table Cloth and Tryptch). The Viking Collateral program was designed to create a specific environment through the use of a cohesive group of display materials. The goal was to establish brand recognition of Viking's new fragrance for men. The program was simple to execute and easily portable. The tryptch was produced out of .020 SBS and mounted to foam board. All units were silk screened. Designed and manufactured by The Royal Promotional Group, 119 West 57th Street, New York, NY 10019. Eucerin Universal Powerwing/Floorstand. This display is shipped to the stores empty for the convenience of the retailer. It is designed to be utilized as a merchandising vehicle for a variety of Eucerin product, accommodating virtually any size bottle or jar. The retailer has the option of placing the unit in a wire cage or on a base and refilling it with any mix of Eucerin products. Bering Carousel Display. Bering Cigars is one of Swisher International's leading brands of premium cigars. The objective was to develop a small counter top display to appeal to the upscale cigar purchaser, and placed in non-traditional retail outlets. The display had to have a small footprint and hold up to 30 Bering premium cigars. The objective was accomplished using neon acrylic along with a ball-bearing rotator base. Nine West Eyewear Fixture. The top-of-counter fixture was designed to introduce the newly licensed Nine West eyewear line in department and specialty stores nationwide. The soft feminine color scheme and graphics appeal to target consumers. To accommodate a variety of retailers, the display presents both large and small product mixes using common design elements and components. Created by Trans World Marketing, 360 Murray Hill Parkway, East Rutherford, NJ 07073. BRONZE AWARD.
ThrowBots Floor Display. This display was designed to gain access into new under developed market segments and non-traditional toy retailers. The objective was to provide a dynamic aisle display. The unit successfully gained the off-shelf feature for key LEGO products and themes and made a strong brand statement. Created by Triangle Display Group, 601 East Erie Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19134. BRONZE AWARD.
3M Permanent Clip Strip. These permanent clip strips provide high impact merchandising for Post-It notes and Scotch tape in office superstores nationwide. The space efficient unit attached to gondola uprights. Common injection molded tooling for both products resulted in timing and cost efficiencies. The angular design provides visual appeal and offers ease of restocking. Created by Trans World Marketing, 360 Murray Hill Parkway, East Rutherford, NJ 07073. SILVER AWARD.
Timber Wolf Mirror. Swedish Match of North America wanted to establish brand image for a new product with this dealer premium item and to achieve long term placement. This piece is constructed with a wide MDF frame, selectively mirrored glass and three part die cut litho artwork. Created by Heritage Sign & Display, 344 Industrial Drive, Nesquehoning, PA 18240. BRONZE AWARD.
Tanqueray Holiday '99 Floor Display. The objective was to create immediate brand recognition and draw customers to the display. The upper section of the bell is a large scale reproduction of the familiar green-tinted Tanqueray bottle. The display was extremely popular with retailers. Created by Display Products N.A. Inc., 31 Old Dock Road, Yaphank, NY 11980. SILVER AWARD
Nintendo of America Video Game Cabinet. This display provides a secure space for merchandising Nintendo 64 Video Games. The cabinet highlights the graphics on the game package and promotes “hit” games with full motion and sound. It offers glass locking cabinet doors, illuminated header graphics and a custom color TV as a video disc player. Created by Frank Mayer & Associates, 1975 Wisconsin Ave., Grafton, WI 53024. SILVER AWARD.
Scotsfest 2000 Mega Display. This display met its strategic goals, holding at least three cases of Johnnie Walker, maintaining a very small footprint and encouraging acceptance and display by retailers. The lock-box allows floor display of two premium marquees, Blue Label and Gold Label. Wood barrel shelves hold the bottles. The traditional feel is offset by the use of contemporary typography and by the graphics. Created by Manhattan Marketing Ensemple and York Display Finishing Co. Spaulding Basketball floor Display. The objective of this display was to gain secondary distribution leading to increased sales. The unit’s sleek design provides a perfect floor merchandiser. It creates a designed Spalding area for sporting good stores and encourages impulse purchases. Created by Einson Freeman, Inc., 61 South Paramus Road, Paramus, NJ 07652. SILVER AWARD.
Tony & Tina Eyeshadow Merchandiser. This display was designed to merchandise the Tony & Tina line of eyeshadow using its unique packaging instead of using a traditional pan. It is constructed out of powdercoated steel and acrylic templates. The unit reinforced the line's personality based image. Designed and manufactured by The Royal Promotion Group, 119 West 57th Street, New York, NY 10019. SILVER AWARD.
