Yogen Fruz Test Markets Tropicana Dessert Centers
Yogen Fruz World-Wide, Toronto, Canada, which distributes Tropicana frozen novelties in the U.S., has formed an ambitious development plan for the Tropicana brand in the frozen dessert category. It plans to introduce new flavors and varieties of frozen novelties, as well as Tropicana Twirls, combining fruit sherbets with super-premium ice cream.
The Company’s development plan for the Tropicana brand also includes the test marketing of Tropicana Dessert Centers, a merchandising concept calling for the blocking of all Tropicana frozen dessert products within an entire supermarket door of frozen retail space devoted exclusively to the Tropicana brand.
Burger King Unveils New Image
Burger King Corp. has announced plans to roll out major transformation initiatives. “The strategy focuses on investing in facility enhancements as the first step toward revenue growth, followed by a ruthless focus on speed of service, accelerated product innovation and superior marketing,” said Dennis Malamatinas, CEO, Burger King Corp. “We have invested hundreds of millions of dollars in the brand over the past several years, and will continue to spend hundreds of millions on our Transformation strategies between now and 2004.”
The program is now ready for roll out in 8,400 Burger King restaurants in the U.S. Elements include a new Burger King logo and signage, interior and exterior restaurant re-imaging, a Virtual Fun Center computer game system and a new Drive-Thru 2000 system.
‘Coffee-By-The-Pound’ In Dunkin’ Donuts Debuts With POP
Dunkin’ Donuts is using this custom counter merchandiser to introduce the sale of coffee beans in bulk.
The “Coffee-By-The-Pound” merchandiser has a vacuum-formed base, featuring coffee beans attached to the surface. An acrylic four-color header features bold graphics displaying a one-pound bag of coffee.
The display, constructed of high-impact polystyrene and plexiglas, ships knocked-down and sets-up easily.

Burger King Ties-In With Flintstones Film
Burger King Corporation announced its Big Kids Meal promotion, which will offer four interactive toys in a promotional tie in with the Universal Pictures’ and Hanna-Barbera/Amblin Entertainment film, “The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas.”
The toys will include a toy that depicts the first Burger King restaurant, named ”Bronto King.”
Promotion support includes national television advertising, in-store merchandising and special crew gear depicting scenes from the movie.
The promotion will run for four weeks. It will run internationally, spanning over 40 territories wordwide over 3 months.
SkyDancer™ Inflatables Promote Store Openings
SkyDancers combine size, shape and motion to form mesmerizing displays. The large size SkyDancers are from 50 to 70 feet into the air and dance with entertaining motion. When activated, the air system pushes air through the bottom of the figure and out of the hands and head. SkyDancers can remain in action 24 hours, 7 days a week. Burger King Kiosk
This kiosk is designed especially with children in mind. The units contain custom designed software featuring 16 fun and educational games. A built-in camera allows children to pose for a picture and place their own image into different game on the screen. The objective was to increase market share by attracting and bringing in more kids, leading to more sales of Kid's Meals. The kid friendly design and color scheme, along with music and screen saver, attract kids to the games and the Burger King message. The design also allows for easy placement within the small play area of the restaurants.
