Pepsi Features R2D2 Display To Promote "Star Wars" Tie-In

Pepsi is using this IceMan Ice Barrel, a replica of R2D2 from Star Wars, to support its involvement with the Star Wars trilogy.

The R2D2 unit, developed by Paul Flum Ideas, Inc., St. Louis, MO, boasts several new features. After the promotion, the R2D2 graphic facade panel can be removed revealing a regular Pepsi IceMan that will remain for the rest of the season. The R2D2 facade can then be reassembled as part of the R2D2 kit, for use as a dealer loader or for an in-store sweepstakes The R2D2 also has a new Dial-a-Pac drainage which allows the the well depth to adjust to three heights.

Lowe Group Acquires Interest In Diamond Promotion

The Lowe Group, New York City, part of Lowe & Partners/SMS, has acquired a significant minority interest in New York based-Diamond Promotion Group, Inc.

Management of Diamond Promotion will report to Lee Garfinkel, Co-Chairman and CEO and Marvin Sloves, Co-Chairman, of Lowe & Partners/SMS.

Martin Sloves said, "Along with Lowe Direct, Lowe McAdams Healthcare and Lowe Interactive, this is yet another important capability we can offer to our clients who will benefit from the force of tightly integrated communications efforts."

Lever Launches Little League Promotion

Lever Brothers has announced a Little League sponsorship promotion for its Wisk laundry detergent, Wisk Away pretreaters and Snuggle fabric softener brands.

Lever is supporting the sponsorship through direct mail, a national FSI, sampling and give-aways to Little League households and a Point Collection Program to support local leagues. Wisk laundry products will carry a special logo on packaging stating "Official Laundry Detergent: Little League."

As parents register their children for Little League this spring, they will receive a Lever Brothers welcome pack comprised of a parents’ coaching tips and laundry hints brochure, a Snuggle coupon and Wisk samples.


INFOSHOW In-Store Sales Center Introduce

National In-Store offers INFOSHOW, an in-store electronic sales center designed as an alternative to video systems.

INFOSHOW’S infrared detectors turn the system on as shoppers approach. The voice chip delivers sales points in sync with visuals.Unlike video units, INFOSHOW never needs to be rewound and there are no moving parts to wear out.

Zipatoni Names J. Holbrook As President

Zipatoni Co., St. Louis, MO. announced that Jim Holbrook, a 12-year veteran of Ralston Purina has joined the company as President. Holbrook succeeds Mitch Meyers, who was named Chief Operating Officer.


SaveSmart Appoints T. Bohnen, Exec. V.P. Mktg.

Ted Bohnen has been appointed Executive V.P. Sales and Marketing of SaveSmart, an Internet promotion firm headquartered in Mountain View, CA, which provides targeted on-line promotional offers redeemed via a magnetic stipe discount card at local retail establishments.

Mr. Bohnen was previously with Donnelley Marketing and was Executive V.P. Sales and Marketing with National Retail Services and Time Inc. In-Store. Mr. Bohnen is based at SaveSmart’s new Eastern Region office in Westport, CT.
