Puma Displays Soccer Apparel

Puma Canada wanted to display soccer apparel and accessories while maintaining a small footprint. Puma also wanted to build brand awareness.

Gorrie Marketing Services of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, designed and produced this display, which can be shopped from both sides, is easy to re-merchandise and move to another location in the store.

The display was made using a 1” square metal tubing frame, powder coated black, MDF melamine wall and shelves with a laminated aluminum facing. On top was a metal laser cut header with a 3-color printed decal.


Shifting Trends In Exercise

There have been substantial shifts in the past decade in exercise habits, according to “Tracking the Fitness Movement,” a report from the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association (SGMA), North Palm Beach, FL

Free Weights. Working out with free weights became the most popular form of exercise during the 1990s and was one of the few that continued to grow. The survey found that 42.8 million Americans worked out with free weights in 1999, 60% more than the 26.7 million in 1990. Many of the new free-weight users are women, increasing from 8.3 million in 1990 to 19.4 million in 1999. Run, walk, swim, bike. The number of people who run (34 million in 1999) or walk (36 million) for exercise remained relatively stable through the 1990s. But the number of fitness swimmers and fitness bicyclists is declining. Cardio fashions. More people used cardiovascular machines as the decade wound down. When the decade opened, riding a stationary bike was the #1 form of exercise in the country, but it lost nine million participants during the decade and dropped to number six. Treadmill exercise skyrocketed 226%, from 11.5 million participants in 1990 to 37.5 million in 1999. Still Dancing. The number of aerobic dance participants declined about 10% in the decade, to 19.1 million. Health Club Boom. The number of health club members climbed 48%, from 20.7 million in 1990 to 30.6 million members in 1999. Aging Exercisers. Baby boomers and seniors make up an increasing proportion of fitness enthusiasts.
