Sam’s Club Unveils Growth Strategy

Sam’s Club plans to double membership, and more than double sales over the next 8–10 years. The club model is being redefined through omnichannel innovation and experiences like Scan & Go. Sam’s Club Pres. & CEO, Chris Nicholas, said, “This is one of the fastest, most scalable transformations happening in retail today.”
As part of its long-term roadmap, Sam’s Club will open 30 new locations, while building a pipeline to open 15 new clubs each year. The retailer also plans to remodel all 600 of its existing clubs, with the newly opened Grapevine, TX, location setting the standard for the club of the future. These physical investments are being matched by a digital expansion. By leveraging Walmart’s enterprise fulfillment network and technology platforms, Sam’s Club is scaling a national eCommerce presence that enables membership growth beyond its physical club footprint.
